mr tl, I was thinking about an exhaust but I think I will go crazy with the noise. I am just like that. How about an intake? My friend got an intake on a civic and it is quiet until 3500 rpm's. Thats all I need. He claims it gave him more torque. Maybe its just all in his head.

my intake (Xephyr) it extremely quiet until right around 4500 rpm's and even then it's not really that loud. I also have Headers/Exhaust too.

for some reason i thought you said low end torque

pretty much any performance mod will help torque

an intake will drop your torque by a few pounds around 2500-3000 rpm, but will show substantially increased torque from 4500rpm and up

Mr tl, I did say low end torque. I need something from 1000-2500 rpms.

Supposedly lighter rims and tires (see EricL) give you the effect of more low end torque at all RPMs.

I've always felt a loss of low-end torque with my Tanabe and intake, but noticeable gain in the top end.

its true that exhaust helps in high end with the hp but tq is definately lost in the low end keep that in mind
black tl: at least we have a thing or 2 in common looking for low/mid end torque...thas all i need, i dont speed so i dont need the highs
imma invest me a jacobs or msd ignitions
for the jacobs: http://www.jacobselectronics.com/pro...gypaks/dis.htm
and the msd: http://www.turboimports.com/msddis4chani.html
(D.I.S. for the ppl that dont know)its not goin to turn the car into a rocket but it should make a diffrence and i mean a good diffrence.

I believe an intake box (not OEM) will increase low end torque. Usually an open intake will hurt low end (without other mods)while the intake box can store up some air for instance response. At high rpm, it functions just like an open intake for easy breathing.

You will more likely lose torque from larger diameter exhaust pipings due to less back pressure.

If you want torque, you should get turbo (forced induction). That will give you gobs of torque (and power).

so with exhaust you will lose low-end torque and gain torque in the high-end?

same as HP?

To produce more torque, you will need a higher compression ratio. So, the 3.5 upgrade will do it. Or look at the TL-S as an example.

Your next option can be Force Induction. Header will help, and CAI, exthust will make most of the difference at higher rpm. You will typically lose some torque at the lower end.

I say pulley and ligher wheels are the way to go.

Where do we find a chip though? It seems hard to find one for our car!

Don't bother. The only one that makes a chip for the TL is JetChip and their results are very suspect. If the V-AFC can't do much with our car, the JetChip won't either except maybe rais the VTEC kickin point. That's a lot of money to just do that.

Slight correction - a turbo wont do that much at low end, since it needs a lot of exhaust to spin up ... (hence turbo lag). A super charger or dual turbo setup would be more like it.. superchargers are always pumping since it runs off the crank, and a dual turbo is usually tuned that one turbo spins up at low end and the other one spins up at higher rpm's ..
low end torque is REDUCED with intakes, headers, exhausts.. they relieve backpressure which is great for high rpm's but it lowers response down low (just look at dyno graphs for modified cars)
