tropictints does a great job in my opinion in the area. but 2 of my friends have gotten their job done at tropic and 2others say they will only take it there when they are ready to get their cars tinted. im sure there are others but tropic is great

pricing varies - they have 2different type of tints- both llumar. one is their extra UV protectant which blocks more UV rays (comes in 70, 50,38,30, and 18%). But this is partially reflective. this runs about 250 for the tint

the regular tint is also Llumar and will run 200 for it. they have 50,35,25,20,5 with that in either charcoal or the bronze tint.

i would recommend going with the 20% in charcoal (this will be the blackest as opposed to reflective greenish). Since its metallic tint (all the tint they use is metallic), it will not fade and since they do such a great job, bubbling will not be there

my friend had a ton of bubbles the first day but 3-4days later, they were all gone. mine didnt show any bubbling at all when i had mine done so dont worry when u get bubbles. they will cure. it takes about 2hrs to do

u can check out their website www.tropicwindowtinting.com

thanx eternal...so charcoal is the darkest?...i want it to be black..but i dont want it to be a flat black...it'll still reflect like normal glass right?...i wanted a black that was kina mirriorish...dont know if thats possible...i guess 'll go with the charcoal then...and llumar is a good brand?

btw shimbo...i would never consider limo tint..thats crazy lol...i'd be asking for a ticket

yeah go with the charcoal... i only suggest that cuz the tint that is 50bucks extra will do a lot more reflecting and doesnt look that great... will protect ur interior more but the regular black charcoal will look better

llumar is pretty good... only one i heard is better is Madico but either way, u cant go wrong

I hear llumar is overpriced because of advertising. Madico is just as good, if not better, but prices are lower because they spend their money on R&D instead of ads. Well that's what I hear....

Examples of Madico Onyx (metallic) tint.

The back 3 windows are 35% while the front 3 (including windshield & moonroof) are 55%.

Does 3M still make car window tint? I used to have 3M in my previous car and it lasted a long time (3 years and still looked good when I got rid of the car). In my current car I'm using Llumar and it is 2 years old and it faded and is starting to give hints of purple (although no bubbles). I'll never use Llumar again! I got 20% all around and it looks like 35% - 40% now after 2 years). I live in Florida and the car was always outside....so it got a beating.

Anyone having this tint issue...

Poor radio reception on vehicles equipped with a window antenna (antenna on the window glass) can be caused by a cellular phone antenna near the radio antenna grid lines, damaged antenna grid lines, or even after-market window tinting. Check these items:

Listen to the radio with and without the cellular phone antenna connected. If the radio reception improves when the phone antenna is disconnected, you've found the problem. (The phone antenna is mounted too close to the radio grid lines.) In this case, you'll need to move the cell phone antenna to improve radio reception. To prevent this problem when you're installing a cell phone, never mount its antenna on top of or near the radio antenna.
Inspect the antenna grid lines. If any are broken, bring your vehicle into Acura of xxxxxxx xxxxfor repair. We will need to remove the window tint (if installed), and repair the grid lines. (However, if the line break is longer than one inch, the repair won't be effective.)
If the car has after-market rear window tinting, compare radio reception to a similar vehicle without tint. (Some tints are made with metallic particles in them. This can be a source of poor radio reception.) If the radio in the non-tinted vehicle has better reception, you the customer needs to decide if you want to keep the tint and have less than perfect radio reception, replace the tint with a non-metallic type, or remove the tint entirely.

How about http://www.formulaone window tint. Has anyone tried this.

Well a friend of mine just did his CLS in the same shop I took mine in and it costed $350 for ALL windows (front...back...windshield...rear window...moonroof...and plastic vinyl on top of the rear window for bubbles).

This tint has 100% lifetime warranty on it so if it fades, discolors, or it bubbles, the tint shop will replace it free!

But...you have to wait a minimum of 7 days to let the initial tint dry out before you can claim a "bubbled" tint. Took my car around 5-6 days before all the moisture bubbles dried out.

According to older posts we don't seem to need vinyl over the dot matrix on the rear window. Since the dots aren't raised, the tint should have no problem adhering. Can posters who have tint over the dot matrix chime in and confirm this and mention the brand used?

I have tints over the dot matrix without the vinyl. My friend did the vinyl simply because we campared the 2 and thought it looked better with it.

BTW....my tints are 2 years old and I didnt go with the vinyl.

I'm not sure if it was metallic. The guy who installed it said that I had a 1 year warranty and that it was the same stuff as 3M.

So there are basically 3 common brands: Llumar, Madico, n Solar Gard. Both LLumar Platinum n Madico Onyx are dye tints while Solar Gard Quantum is a non-dye tint. wat's the advantages of dye n non-dye tints? Wat's the different at nite?
