How much was your setup? So the stock speakers were powered by the head unit? The stocks sound okay?

^^yup....if i turn the bass up all the way they distort a little but other than that they are fine....my setup cost me:

270-sub
240-amp
200-for all my wires...
25-for the box

735....not including the cap i bought and sold to a friend because i never installed it....and this was about a year ago same should be cheaper now.....also you can get the wires for alot cheaper but i found some of the best stuff...my RCAs were like 80 alone....http://www.cardomain.com/item/STRZN7650.....

I dont have my system yet but i can tell you what its gonna be

2 Kicker SS6.5 Components up front
2 Kicker RS6.5 Components back
1 Kicker SX900.4 to run the comps
1 Kicker 15" L7
1 Kicker SX1250.1 to push the L7

all ran by a double din deck... not sure which one yet most likely Panasonic CQ-VD6503U

after purchasing wires and everything should come up to around 2k

and it will be some sweet custom trunk work

dnd2984:

I had a jl 500/1 pushing a 12W7 too. That ish is badass.... How did you like it compared to you W6 though? Were they 10 or 12W6's? Were you only powering those W6's with that 500/1? I would imagine you wern't pushing enough to those subs if that's all you were using. I had the trunk dynomatted too by tweeter. They didn't get every nook and cranny so it was still vibrating. Is there any place i should pay particular attention to when i go back and dynomat it again. I'm running a JL500/5 cuz i thought I would be content with that but it turns out I'm not. So it's either the 12 or 13.5 W7 or 2 12W6's. Sorry for the essay here.

The Jl 12w6s where just fine with the 500/1 but more power the better

My 12w7 ported is louder than the 12w6s sealed though.

Key to dynamat is using all their products. In the corners and some parts of the car there is liquid dynamat spray, and then Extreme mat eles where. I have used the whole JL woofer line. The most impressive is 2 13w6v2 with a 1000/1.

The 13w7 with a 1000/1 would sound nice to. But make sure u get a good box.

yeah, i've heard a 13W7 and man was it loud... do you think if you had the W6's in a ported box it would blow the 12W7 away?

Yes if I had more power. But on the 500/1 it wont. I heard 2 12w6s on the 1000/1 and the output was amazing.

Front/Rear Door Speakers: JVC 4-Way 6 1/2" - $80-$90 range per pair

Mine's still a work in progress.

2- 12W6s in a sealed box.

An old Infinity digital 1,000 watt amp

JL Audio 6 channel for the highs

Infinity Kappa mids and 1021 reference tweeters.

I was lucky enough to hear lots of subs beforehand and was sold on JL. It was a tossup between the two W6s or a single W7. I thought the W6s had a slight edge in sound quality so I gave up a little trunk space for them.

I know everyone hates Infinity mids and highs but after a lot of tuning, I'm happy with mine. I got the textile dome tweeters because Infinities are known for being bright already. Clarity is excellent but the midbass could be better. I will probably install some dedicated midbass drivers when I get the money.
