What kind of oil do you guys use? I use Mobile 5w 30 synthetic. Is that oil good? I heard that u change synthetic oil every 5000 miles instead of the regular 3000, is that right? Which is the best oil to have on our TL?

i've been using mobil 1 5w30 for the past 4 years and i change mine every 7500

i use Mobile one 10w-30, but im going to change and go to 5w-30 next time. I think ill change it after 5000 miles.

You change yours every 7500 miles? Isnt it suppose to be no more than 5000miles? Where do u change it at?

You know how when its every 3000 miles or whatever, the MAINT REQ'D light comes on, is there a way to set it where it comes on every 5000 miles or whatver u want it to be? That would be nice to do that.

I do my own oil changes. I use Pennzoil 5W-20 conventional and change oil and filter (Honda OEM) every 4000 miles. I've done this for all my cars for over 15 years and I've never had an oil-related failure/breakdown on any engine component. This includes some GM cars with over 175,000 miles on them.

And no, unfortunately there is no easy way to change the maintenence light to come on when *you* want it to, only when Acura wants it to. It's preset to start blinking at 6,000 (IIRC) and stays on steady at 7,500.

First change at 4200 was Mobil1 5W-30 Synthetic. Thinking about putting in Redline 5W-20 Syn at next change in few months. The only 5W-20 syn available is Redline and the local dealer won't stock it, special order only. I'll check availability again when the next change comes around.

The Mobil1 is working great so far.
