BMWs and Audis has HIDs too right? But theirs is purple. You guys like ours better or theirs? To me, its a tossup. What other cars has HIDs besides the Mercedes?

Infiniti, Lexus, Lincoln also. Honestly, I felt the HID on the TL looked too aftermarket, as opposed to other companies that seem to have a concentrated beam of light, maybe this is because of the light refraction in the lense housing. Although it seems whiter, I find it hard to distinguish between say, an aftermarket bulb in an Accord or Civic (as their lenses are a similiar shape)

Another great concept is the bluish tinge that Lexus has added to the new LS430/GS430 housing which gives this effect when the lights are shut off. From what I understand, they simply added a small blue piece of plastic (?) to an area of the housing that then reflects off of the multi-faceted chrome, giving the illusion of tint.

I actually like the TL HIDs best. I like white light, as close to daylight as possible. I don't like HIDs that look blue or purple.
From a "showoff" point of view, I'd appreciate it if the Acura would add a little prismatic effect on the edges of the lens so that there's a little violet "shimmer" from certain angles.

My porsche has HIDs and so does my sisters S2000....
the difference between both of those (better) HIDs is that they are Projector beam HIDs whereas the ones in our TLs and CLs are Reflector beam HIDs....that is the main difference I believe....
ours are a little cheaper to produce as opposed to the projector lens style

yeh! I heard that the XEONs on porsche are like the best.
However, i like BMW/audi's xeons.. they are soooooo bright and sooooooo purple/blue~ U know.. ours is just "WHITE"...
and.. my is sometimes.. yellow~ haha
i heard from the mechanic today .. (he was installing a xeon bulb for my friend's vigor). He told me that Acura's HID is using the Convertor thing... almost like those aftermarket ones.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys...but I believe that there are drop in HID bulbs you can get with a higher color temperature...which would of course give you bluer lights...I'm pretty sure astroboy is completely right...you won't get anything but a color change with our reflector type...that's about all you can hope for

Is there anything we can do to keep our lights blue? I noticed when you first turn on your lights at night it has a nice blue tint, but through warming up they turn white....

S2000 lights without a doubt.
Projector HID can't beat that. You can tell its a S2000 a mile away at night just by the way the light shines. It also goes from a blue-to-purplish color change depending on the angle not mention its blinding BRIGHT.
I saw one the other night. I was on an empty 5 lane freeway, just me and the s2000 and some supra that speed off, with little to no highway lamps. The S2000 was not too far in front of me in the center lane and i could see its beam path clearly. The S2000 light beam range are wide, covers 3 lanes to the left and to the right easily, and it lit up all 3 lanes to the left and to the right of it with all the same intensity, and would have probably been more but was limited by the freeway rails, even then the freeway rails were lite up almost just as bright if not as brightly. Where as most car lights usually cover 1 maybe 2, barely lanes to the left and to the right. I think ours beams covers 2-3 lanes.
Gotta love HIDs tho

Aftermarket or OE, they are about the same... usually differ by Auto-Leveling and Headlight Housing designs...
Litronic(Porsche)has shorter arc than normal HID bulbs....
Keep in mind that Blue-ish look is only a by-product of HID.... HID is suppose to give WHITE light, not bluish light.......

Agreed! S2000 HID are the best ones on the road for the driver. But I had very poor experiences with them Vs. other drivers. In my 2 years of owning them, every time I drove at night I was flashed by 1 in 5 cars on longer roads. I had people actually pull over on the side of the road on a constant bases to let me by either because they were to bright or they thought I was a copper. The problem with S2000 HID is that they are not auto-lvl'ing like other brands. The S2000 has a VERY stiff suspension, when you hit a bump, you flash the oncoming traffic hard. But driving with them is wonderful. The line of light distinction is incredible, far more then my new TLS. I can immediately tell an S2000 oncoming by the lights.

Early HID(1995 BMW 750iL, '96 E-Class, '97-'99 S-Class)seems to have more bluish hue to it... and from I was told(By MB Tech), they changed the bulb and ballast(spell??) in newer ones.... which has more white than blue...sometimes even a bit of yellow-ish hue....
