Sometimes my TL has a longer crank time...probably repressurizing the fuel lines or something.

There's lots of little gadgets, trinkets and dingies which run the car...just let it do its job

It is always a good practice to turn the key to the 'on' position and let it sit for ~ 5 seconds. you will hear the fuel pump pressurizing the lines. Once that goes away you should be good to go.

There was a recall for Ignition Switch on TL while back. But I think it was for 97~99 TL's. You might want to go here and check out to see if your TL's in for recall.

Yea, the recall is for 99 TLs. Like someone said, wait a few seconds before starting, that's what I do and never had a problem.

I think your long start time is basically a normal thing for the TL.
It happens from time to time.

I realized that several months after purchasing. Still, sometimes when it starts (when engine is warm), it starts very weakly. it will stay below 1000 rpm for couple seconds, then jump up to fast idle, then back down. I swear this Honda made car has most glitches comparing to my other 3 hondas.

I sort of remember this discussion a while back...

One thing I remember:

Don't monkey with the gas pedal. Just turn the key. Messing with the pedal will mess you up!

high compression in our TL engines makes it a little tougher for ignition to catch sometimes when it's cold. Most likely your not holding the key in the crank position long enough. Crank it a tad longer when it is cold or hasn't been driven that day. After it's warmed up you can just crank it real fast and it will catch right away.

Well guys I went to the shop the other day and I found out why my car wasn't cranking. Turns out the battery has problems so after I changed it the car cranks up like new maybe you should check it out.
