Probably because it's not as fast as an M3 nor as comfortable as a Rolls Royce...

S=Sport?? Maybe?
I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a POS but it isn't as fast or as comfortable but...it's still one hell of a car!!

Type-S stands for Speed, Type-R stands for Racing. TypeSWork, you don't even belong in this forum if you think it stands for a piece of sh*t.

Don't confuse Type-S for Sport. Toyota Corolla's Type-S stands for Sport and its base model is lighter=faster than their Sport model.

a belt with that few miles? warped rotors are a given (i havent driven a car or rotors i havent warped) to me with any car so i cant complain about them. and my tranny issues have been delt with by my dealer professonially so i cant complain 1 bit about the car

Sorry you're having so much trouble. The tranny and rotors are known issues, but any belt repair at that few miles is suspicious. Have you thought about running a CarFax (or similar) report on it? I know CarFax is not perfect, but if the previous owner bailed because of an accident or flood damage or whatever, you should know.

Haha.. sucks to be you. Normally I would post a message of consolation but just because you've had problems and also thought that "S" stood for $hit, I will conclude that that's exactly what's in your head. I've had NO problems, not even tranny, but even I realize that not everyone's experience with this car will be the same. Maybe the Type S badge on your TL (and only yours) stands for Type-Stupid. Don't hate because you had bad luck.

Hey everyone I was being sarcastic (see the "rolling eyes"?)...

Generally when people say the TL-S is a piece of $hit it's because they thought it would be as fast an an M3 and as comfortable as a Rolls Royce...

Obviously, TypeSwork doesn't think that but I've seen several threads ripping the TL-S for those reasons.

I don't think he even has a TL-S. He's just regurgitating every problem that has been written on this forum. Anyone can name those problems after reading 5 posts. All three happening to one car in a matter of three weeks? I deal with enough BS at work, don't need to see it in my "pleasure reading" material.

"After reading 5 posts"??.. If this is your opinion (and it is correct BTW) I'd say this car has a "small" (boarding on Medium) quality problem. It becomes large when the freakin dealer doesn't do what it should!

I would not Call this car S**T. nor did I purchase it thinking I'd be getting an M3. Its a great car for the cash until (or if) the problems start.

TypeSWork, when you had these problems brought to a dealer, didn't they give you a loaner?? If you take it in at 7:30am when they open, get a loaner, you can still get to work on time and then pick your car up after work. I was just curious cause you said you almost lost your job asking for days off.
I think we all have our share of problems with this car, but you'll find that almost any car has its own share. Even my dad's Lexus has problems. G'luck with your car, hope it starts behaving herself soon.

Do you honestly believe that you lost your job because you took too many days off for car repairs? You may need a reality check. It may have been the quality of your work, or lack thereof.

Anyway, I know I only paid 30k for the car, so I'm not expecting 40k+ quality. I got what I paid for and had my minor issues resolved.

He's just venting. Maybe the car was not what he expected. I'd suggest a Grand-Am or a Malibu instead (for quality and reliability). Maybe they make those car on models with vowels.

As for the meaning of the "S", we can only speculate. There's so many out there: Type R, Type SH, S-Type, S, LS, who knows but the manufacturer.

I bet this idiot never had a Type S. If anything, he's trying to justify the price he paid for his little GS400 sport (which I doubt he even has). Man, he didn't even have the balls to get the GS430. BTW, no tranny problems in 31 months of ownership here. Just a squeaky sunroof which was fixed by the dealer promptly. Even with Lexus, you'll see your share of problems, although I suspect the quality is a tad above Acura's. Oh, BTW, learn how to construct proper sentences in the English language so that others can more efficiently understand what you're saying.
