What do you guys think ?
Hello Everyone,
I have a 96 2.5TL. 71,500 original miles. The car is champange with taupe leather. Loaded, all factory options, sunroof deflector, and a double din Clarion tape / cd head unit, and clarion 12 disc CD in the trunk.
The car is Certified Pre-owned from Acura, and has the warranty until 100k miles. Im thinking of taking the plunge and picking up a 2nd Gen 3.2TL. Now i'm wondering realistically what I could get for it? The car in NJ, I have all books and records, always dealer serviced etc etc. It would make a great 1st car. What do you think guys?
Best wishes and take care,
George Androulakis

I have found kbb to be very misleading. In my opinion the values are skewed to benefit the dealer. Retail Values are unrealistically inflated and trade ins are way low. Anyone have access to Galves or Black Book? I would be interested to see what those put the valuation at.

Anyway, when I was thinking about selling my TL for a Type-S, I went to my Acura dealer and they helped me out with that they would give me and what I should ask for. Try there, my dealer was really helpful. I'm sure they'd help you if they knew it could mean a probable sale for them.

lol sorry....got a lil excited to hear a fellow greek on the board.... I guess it's all Greek to you guys.
I really dont want to trade the car into the dealer, as I can inevitably get more for it privately. They do have to sell it for a profit to a consumer. Well either that or wholesale it out, but then that person will sell it to a dealer for a profit, who will sell it for an additional profit to a consumer. Dealers will rarely if ever give you over Galves value on a car, as they can go to the many dealer auctions, i.e. manheim, adessa, newberg, NADE, just to mention a few in the north east, and get the same car for that price. Dealers make for the most part at least twice as much on used cars as they do new ones.
Regardless, I want to walk into the dealer armed with cash. So i guess that isnt an option.

you missed what I was saying or I wasn't clear. My dealer was helping me with the price that I should be asking for if I were to try to sell it privately.
The dealer actually recommended that I don't trade my car in to them because I wouldn't get much. He didn't really care if he got the car in a trade in as much as they do about getting a sale. He ws very helpful.
It's worth a shot, noone would know the going prices of Acura's better than a dealer right?

sell the car privately. sure, it might be a pain to place ads, having ppl drive it, etc. but youll definately get more for it. like you said, the dealer has to make a profit somehow
BUT, i wonder what kind of deal youd get if you traded it in for a 3.2. go to a couple of dealers and get the final number.
anyway, kathe toso na mas les ti yinentai me to autokinito.
