Question What do performance mods to to your car insurance?

I was wondering if car insurance companies would deny claims or refuse coverage if extensive modifications were put on the TL. Has anyone looked into this, or had experiences?

Nate is correct, and so is Shoofin. You should always tell your insurance company of add ons that are expensive or give value (think of the small increase in payments as reassurance if some asshole hits you or swipes your stuff, that you will get paid). Be careful however; most insurance companies do not cover stuff that isn't bolted to the car, so check with them. Get everything in writing, so they wont go back on their word. My old co tried to stiff me when my entire stereo was taken. They said that most of it wasn't original (duh) and that it wasn't covered bcuz it wasn't bolted to the frame!!! WTF?!? I showed them by pulling three car policies, my house, and several riders too.

eventhough state farm is a little expensive in nj, I'm covered for 25,000 in extra coverage as long as i have receipts. i do not pay any extra for the coverage, but man i would be relieved if something ever happened. they have all my receipts and detailed pictures of everything i have done just to cover my a$$ just in case anything were to happen.
