Post What do body kit and spoiler do?

Just wondering, do people put them on just to make the cars look good or they actually serve some type of funtions, such as speed or ride improvement.

I'm pretty sure it's strictly cosmetic. I don't think spoilers provide a significant amount of downforce until you are way up in the 100's in speed. Even then, the spoiler would have to be shaped differently. Look at a stock car - those spoilers stick straight up from the rear of the car and are at almost a 90 deg. angle. They also have spoilers on the front of the car to provide downforce to the front wheels (especially the right front wheel, which is the critical one), but they are different from the underbody spoilers we have.

How about Comptech muffler and header, are they installed to just make the sound meaner?

i got my kit to make it lood good, and the wing is also cosmetic. the intake/header/exhaust does add performance to the sportier sound.

my buddie smxdave has comptech headers, AEM CAI (Cold Air Intake), and APEXI exhaust...and it does create a more "throaty" sound to it. it sounds a lot meaner than my TL-S. but i'd whip his ass even if his sounds meaner (that's if he doesn't use his juice ) just kiddin' d-rock
but the body kit is all cosmetics

They enhance the appearance of you ride while keeping your ride distinctively different from other bone-stock TL's or TL-S'.

Except for those Honda Civics with huge wings in the rear. Those cars really need the wing because at 240+ mph like those civics do, they need the downforce caused by the wing to keep the rear of the car stable and grounded.

YES! Imax is right! It's big bucks for the dealer!

That being said, the kit and the spoiler make the TL-S stand out from the normal mid-luxury sedan. I get more people who look at my car and go "Wow, what is that?" than I would if it were a plain TL-S.

Is the money worth it? Who knows, I paid and am happy with them, but others would say it's a waste.

Bottom line is they really don't do anything...

The CompTech Headers add 30HP to the wheel, which is about 37HP at the crank. The Exhausts are pretty much to make it sound and look better. You may add 1HP or so, but they're mostly for look and sound....
