Question What is this?

Why am I losing the glossy on whatever part this might be called?

Please tell me the name of the part if you know and all I use is a little dishwashing soap and water to wash my car. Is that bad? Makes it smell like green apple

I would call it door trim. The 2g TL's have that problem. It wears over time. I don't know if the dishwashing soap itself destroyed that, as I never used it.
Dishwashing soap in general strips the wax off of the car and leaves a waxless finish. To protect the finish, after washing the car with dishwashing soap, wax the car.

Do a search for door trim. It's a pretty common problem. Someone uploaded the diagram on how to take it apart as well.

Yes, actual car wash would be a better choice for washing your car, but the dishwashing liquid had no real role in the trim looking like that. Very common condition from what I can see.

Question Let me be lazy plz

What is the best stuff to use on your car if you was frequently? I also hate that black tar shit that getts on my rocker panels and on my rear bumper behind my wheel wells... pain in the ass sometimes it smears...

See, I'm not going to wax my car everytime I wash... I wash my car like once or twice a week if there's bird crap on it.

so what's the best for frequent washing and also what can I use to get that damn tar off my car... sometimes it leaves a little brown dot that I have to muscle it out arrrgh... I've even used goof off and I know that's bad lol.

Talking Hey Ritcheous Dudes!

Thanks for all of your responses....

My steering wheel is also screwed... I guess the person before me had some oily hands or something....

I don't know wheather to try to have this lady die the steering wheel or to try to find a replacement.

The dye job will cost like 40 bucks vs trying to get a new steering wheel, but I don't know how good it will look. She said she could repair the worn leather... Maybe, I'll just give it a go...

Anyways... Thanks again

Jeremy

My '02 NHPB TL had the same problem. The molding on the doors looked just like that. Luckily, it was still covered by warranty so the dealership replaced them. I don't know of any other way to repair the surfaces. If you're still under warranty, it should be covered.

If your leather is discolored try rubbing it with a microfiber yellow towel. It will remove all the garbage stuck in the leather. My armrest, steering wheel, and seats were browned and I wiped it right off.
Good Luck!

dishwashing soap is a no-no for washing your car.

Strips whatever wax you have right off and dries out some types of rubber as well.

Just buy a jug of car wash soap. You bought a 30k car that runs on premium... 3 bucks at Walmart for soap wont hurt.

Just out of curiousity, I was wondering if anyone on here waxes the B-pillar. I wonder if maybe that will help with the fading. I normally put a coat of wax on my windows because I like the way the water beads after I do it, but never put it on that part of the car. What's everyone else's opinion on this?

Sounds like they taking you for a ride - try another stealership - you can even have them ship them to you at a better price.

I'm sure it's in the other thread, but I heard a few folks had their dealer just strip that decal off the B-pillar and just paint it gloss black.

Can't be that expensive, and all problems solved. That's what I plan to do, when I get enough spare gas and a place with a garage.

Sure.

It looks great, used high gloss just like they looked before.
I was told by the service manager this is a common issue with our cars, does not happen with all of them, but when it does, its not something that just reaches a certain point and stops. He also stated that it he felt that it was stupid that they had used tape to begin with.

SO.... as a word of warning, If you see this (delamination) or like bubbling on the trim around the windows and you are still under warranty, get it in to get it fixed, and make sure they PAINT it rather than replace it with tape covered pieces. If you are out of warranty, take the pieces to a body shop, and get them painted.
