Talking Went for oil change on '99. Left with new '02 Type-S !!

I went to Gunn Acura this afternoon for a 2pm oil change appointment and for them to look at the sunroof (it was rattling).
While I was waiting in the customer area, I couldn't help but notice how much better the '02 models look compared to my '99.
I decided to take a walk around the lot to browse while they serviced my car. A thought came to mind: the '99 is paid for, see what they will give you for it if you were to trade it in. The '99 only had 23,075 miles on it. They gave me $20,250 for it. I thought that was fair.

To make a long story short, I financed the difference for two years and drove off the lot tonight in a '02 Dark Emerald Pearl/Parchment Type-S with 8 miles on it!

I'm still amazed that it happened! I just went in for an oil change!

congrats and enjoy your new TL-S. My car is not paid in full yet, but when it is, I am sure something else better will be out there. Oh and you seem to drive that much, I am going out town for college and I think stick with my 00 is the best for, now.

It's not too bad. I got a friend, a lady, went down to the corner store to buy some eggs, and turned into buying a new apartment
($250,000) next to her building. I feel sorry for her husband

Congrats on your new car, but I feel that your 99 TL is worth more than the factory gave you for it, maybe another $1k or two for a car with only 23000 miles on it.

Same thing happened to me. Was getting an oil change on my Vigor (111,000 miles) and saw the WDP. That dealer knocked off $1,300 off the car, but I still walked out. Ended up getting one for $2K under list and got $4,800 for my Vigor at the next dealer I visited, who happened to have one of two only remaining WDPw/NAVI in the Chicago area. I know firsthand because I called around.

And yeah, I ended up trading a '93 Vigor with a fresh oil change ($25).

Oh well, I love my TL!

Damn, another one!

No wonder I can never find a green TL-S w navi - this is like the third person on this board that picked one up in the last week!

Congrats. I'll get mine someday.

Actually, I did. I was driving it off in the '99 when I decided to turn around and get an appraisal on it. Only $26. Oh well. It was worth $26 just for this to happen. I'm not complaining .

I'd have to say $20K on the trade is fair, I got that same amount for my 99TL Trade in at 30,500 miles from another brand of dealer. My 99TL was just looking old.

Congrats again and wise move!
