I started my car today when I was coming home from school and the weirdest thing happened. The engine seemed confused as to whether or not it wanted to stay on. The idle was at about 200 which is crazy! I let it sit there thinking it would rise but it didn't. It just stayed there and the check engine light came on. When I turned my car off and got out of the car, I smelt a lot of gas by the engine area. I don't know what went wrong. When I turned my car back on, it was fine but the CE light still remained on. It hasn't happened since around 4:00. Anyone know what this might have been??

IDN too much about this, but isn't there still an automatic choke even on a car with fuel injection?

So, maybe the choke flooded the engine.

Or, you may not have turned the key for long enough - i think the same thing happened in our 2000 windstar once. Ha, got rid of that unreliable piece of junk though and got an Odyssey.

Last time that happened to me was when the map sensor on the top of the throttle body went bad... comptuer couldent control the fuel mixture to it idled real real low, couldent drive it really, check engine light came on, so did TCS but TCS went off after a restart... replaced the sensor and it was fine... check the cable connection on that sensor... its on top of the throttle body, 3 pin connector, sensor says "map something" on it...
