Weird Issue w/ Passenger Mirror

2002 TLS 154K miles.
Whenever I put car into R drive, passenger mirror shifts downwards. Then when I put car into D drive, mirror shift back to original position. Don't have a clue what happened. Its been doing this for over 6months now. Anyone aware of a similar problem?

Thank you for the help.

I have a 3rd gen. If you move the mirror selector towards the L or the R and put it in reverse the respective mirror will go down. If the selector is in the center NO mirror will go down.

... are you serious ? it's supposed to be like that.. it comes like that stock. it's a feature for the noobies who can't parallel park. they have these on euro cars like bmw's as well. if you don't like that option, simply slide the mirror change position to either "L" or "R" and it won't move down while in reverse.

other way around buddy . it WONT move down while it's in either "L" or "R". it WILL if it's in the middle position.

The usual question on this is why BOTH don't tilt down, but yes, only the passenger side does.

since usa cars often park against the curb on passenger side- it makes sense for just that side to lower itself so you can see the curb as you back up--
prevent curb shots with wheel
unless you already drive with side looking down at the ground behind you~

Ive got to go see if this really is on my 01
