Question WDP with Parchment or Ebony Interior?

Hello All,

First of all, just wanted to say that I think this forum is awesome, and I'll sure be a regular here after I get my new TL-S soon (within a week).

Now my question: Originally, I wanted to get WDP with ebony interior, but I've noticed many of you have the WDP with parchment interior instead. I've been to a couple of dealers and I haven't seen any WDP with the ebony interior. What are your guys' impression of the ebony interior with WDP? Is the contrast too great? Will it look ugly? If anyone has a picture please post. I don't want my color choice to a major faux pas <-- pardon my french.

Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions.

i went with the black. i'll email you some pics if you want but if you are getting one within a week i'd suggest just going and test driving both, see which color you like best.

originally i was going to buy the silver metallic but changed my mind at the last minute. heres why:

other than the TLS specific colors i realized the wdp w/ebony was only offered in the type s + it had just come in on the truck and after some schmoozing, i got to unwrap it

good luck.

We compromised: I wanted a silver TL type S with ebony interior.

The wife would have been happy with the Premium model in White (key item: less expensive). Actually, she wanted an Accord EX V6 to begin with (key item: much less expensive).

I think the ebony makes the car feel smaller and sportier - it was my 1st choice. From past experiences, light interiors are more difficult to keep clean.

The wife argued for the parchment because dark interiors are pretty ugly in the summer heat and look brighter in the winter months. So to get the 260hp, I agreed to parchment.

I guess it all comes down to what you like better.

I ended up with the parchment myself. I like the light color and never really considered the black for myself.

One issue I have is that it's pretty easy to make black marks on the light colored plastic. What's more, my kid tends to kick the plastic on the back of the armrest. It's also easy to mark the light floor mats on a rainy day. But, then again, rain is probably not that big a problem in Southern CA.

Black should hide the dirt a bit better especially on the seats. But black will show dust more than the parchment, too.

As far as temp goes, the outside color of the car is much more critical than the inside on a hot day. Definitely us a sunshade to cover that huge dash though. What's more, dark window tinting is legal in CA vs. NC.

Good luck.

WDP with Ebony

I think the ebony interior accentuates the "sporting" side of the TLS, and the parchment accentuates the "luxury" side. I happen to like the sporting side (and more importantly my wife also likes the ebony), so we got the ebony.

WDP/Parchment looks more "luxurious" while WDP/Ebony is more sportier... You guys are lucky to have choices.. I would pick either WDP/Ebony or ABP/Ebony over SSM/Ebony any day!!!!

But myself, like some, are concerned about the fact that Parchment interior shows black marks well!!! And having see many beige/parchment seat buckles turn into brown-ish color.... I went with SSM/Ebony(I was actually setting out the deal on WDP/Parchment... but changed my mind at the last min).

My combination requires a lot of cleaning. Black with parchment interior. If you don't mind cleaning the car couple times a week, go with the parchment interior. It looks very nice. I use Pinnacle leather cleaner cleans it 2-3 times a week.

Cool

I like the rich look of my parchment with my WDP. It will obviously show the dirt quicker, but black is too hot

Although I said the parchment is "marked" relatively easily, these marks are also easy to remove. A wet towel once a week and it's as good as new.

As far as the seats go, I only use the Lexol leather cleaner every couple weeks.

I have ebony and had parchment in my 2001 TL.

The parchment makes it look more like a luxury car and the ebony more sporty.

I opted for sporty and love the contrasts.

I do have one gripe about ebony. It shows every mark the kids put on the back of the seats with their shoes and the black carpet mats show the dirt more as well. Oh, and the dust shows more too.

That said I still love it.

My two cents worth....I have WDP w/ parchment. I see alot of comments about keeping it clean. I guess that depends on who is in the car and what they are doing. Lighter colors are not good for young children. But if you are the only one driving the car, how bad can it get? I have only had the leather wiped down once in the 4 months I've had the car. It looks new. I think black is too hot, especially in summer and it makes the interior seem smaller. Too much like cave. Maybe the black looks sportier, but for what I paid, I want the look of luxury. I already know the car kicks a$$, the color won't prove it.

Parchment.

The lighter color highlights the luxury while the dark the sportiness. But hell, u got the 260 hp, why not accentuate the car with the luxury, then???

Thanks for all the comments guys...your opinions are greatly heeded.

I agree with you guys that the ebony interior is more "sporty" and the parchment, well...appears to be more "luxurious," however, I feel that black in itself conveys its own "elegant" feel and look. Some of you mentioned the "heat factor" that comes with the ebony material, but my understanding was that the TLS comes with heat-resistant green tinting on the window? How hot does it actually get in the black interior as compared to the parchment? Is the heat bearable?

Along the same lines...I went to visit a couple of dealers again today, but noticed the lack of WDP w/ Navi with ebony interior that is available. One salesperson mentioned that this color combination is rare and that most WDP is made with parchment. When asked if there was a dealer around who carried that particular car, she stated that there wasn't a dealer in Cali who had it and she would have to order it directly through Acura.

I suspected she was sh*tting me, so I went to a couple others dealers and woe and behold, none of them carried WDP with Navi with ebony interior. In fact, the earliest I could get it was from a dealer who told me they had one being shipped in 3 weeks. I can't bear to wait that long for my TLS ...So what's the deal with WDP navi, w/ ebony? Are they in fact as rare as some dealers seem to mention? If so, why is that?

Thanks guys,

I have the same problem too.
I am planning to buy a WDP w/ parchment, and I check the inventory of at least 10 dealers near where I live, I only find 2 of them have WDP in stock. But almost all dealers have more than 3 black cars. What do they make so many black cars for?
Is there a specific kind of color that the factory make more for each month? like this is the month of black, then many next month will be the month of WDP? maybe I should wait till next month so I can get a better deal.

WDP with Ebony

I bought my WDP/Ebony off the lot. It had 44 miles on it after I test drove it. To be honest, I thought that was the only combo for the TLS.

I live in the Sacramento valley. I got into my car on Wed. this week, at 2 pm, when it was 105 outside. I had parked to take advantage of a tree, so had a little shade for the 5 hours I was parked. I use a heat shield (dealer parts dept) for the front window, and the car was cool and comfortable within a few minutes of startup. The factory tint seems to do a pretty good job with the heat.

I think the car looks really nice with the dark interior, and I'm happy that I got it that way.

I have the WDP/Ebony TLS myself and I agree with you on being the best combination. Consider the Zaino products for the exterior and interior, and you will not be dissappointed. The WDP/Ebony is the best combination out there. The WDP color is the best looking, especially at night because the paint looks cristalized and it shines like crazy. If you put the Zaino wax (Z2) on it, you will not beleive how shiny it gets. Go with the WDP/Ebony for sure.

A late vote, but it's for the WDP/Parchment. This is the first "light outside/inside car I've owned and am pleased with the result. If children or package-carrying are issues, however, go with the ebony (but I couldn't get used to the "bowling-ball" wood trim).
