warranty on transmission

The transmission on my 2000 tl is messing up and i was wondering if the warranty still covers it. It has 68k miles and it has a rebuilt title. If its not covered does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do about replacing the transmission?

If it's a salvage title you're out of luck. The extended warranty excludes salvage vehicles from coverage. You can go to Acura for a transmission replacement but the cost is around $4000! You're best bet is a rebuild at a reputable transmission shop such as AAMCO and get the extended warranty for it. Unfortunately the design defect in these transmissions will likely cause you to need the extended warranty.

Since its a rebuilt title your pretty much out of luck. It still wouldnt hurt to bring it to the dealer and see if they will cover it or give you a deal of some sort (just dont mention it has a salvaged title) You never know they may slip it by??

aamco runs about $2500- per the ziners who used them last year. 3 year 36k miles warranty with it too. No you cant do it cheap and fix it sort of- its fixed or its not!
Should take a biz week or so depending if the local acura dealer stocks whatever seals and belts they need specifically from acura, and the rest of the stuff they get from regualar trans rebuild supplier.

Make a few phone calls and see who has actual experience with these cars, and who can fit you in this week

A junkyard unit is a risk too- and may need rebuilding shortly after purchase.

Kris you crack me up- they order the trans by VIN- it might slip by, and a day later tey might say you owe them 4gs

Ive been doing some reading on the forums and apparently there was a factory recall on transmissions of 2000-2001 TLs. The warranty was extended because of it. Someone on the forums also said that he had a rebuilt title and they still replaced his tranny for free because of the factory recall. Do you guys think that is possible? Hopefully i get lucky and get a free replacement at acura, thanks for your help.

Recall was for the oil jet kit which is not the replacement.
