Warranty question

I am about to buy an 03 TL and I understand the original warranty was good for 50,000 miles...

it now has 40,000 miles....am I still under warranty and if so, how do I go about making sure?

I am buying it from a dealer.

tks!

You may also have a 100,000 mile warranty on the transmission. (Apparently not all 2003 TLs get this coverage.)

If you haven't researched second generation TLs yet, you might want to read up on the transmission reliability issues. I didn't let that stop me from buying a used 1999 TL but you should know what you might be getting into before buying.

You might also want to run CarFax report on the car. They are not perfect but they can flag problem cars. If you search the Acurazine forums you can find threads where people will run these for free.

Slight correction, lest noobs get confused.

It's not 'apparently', it's a fact, not all 2003's have the extended tranny warranty.

Factory warranty starts the day the car is sold. '03 models were released in 4th Quarter '02. Worst case, if delivery date on your car was in late '02, your warranty will be expiring within the next several months. Look on your registration, it should show the date the car was sold. Good luck.
