Talking Warning light blinking...

Yesterday and this morning I noticed that my Maintenance required light blinked a few times after I started my car. Anyone know what this means? Besides the obvious answers for all of you jokers. I'm really worried. I am due for an oil change at 6,500 miles. I've got only 6,050 miles right now. And this should be my second oil change, going to go synethic. What could be wrong? Should I bring it to the dealer to have it checked out?

My light started to blink about 500 miles before I was due for my oil change too. I wouldn't worry about it too much. The dealer said that before it's due it blinks when starting the car and after it's due it stays on. I don't know if that's true as my oil changes have been all right on schedule. (Every 3500, they're free so I follow the 3500 rule.)

It is normal for the light to start blinking 500- 1000 miles before the 7500 mile interval. As you get closer, it will blink more then stay on. It is set to do this every 7500 miles. You must reset this light every time you service the car or you will see it come on like described. It is a reminder for all those that don't pay attention to maintenace intervals. Just hold the select and reset buttons in on the dash and turn the key to on (not start). HOld the buttons till the maintenance light blinks, then release. That should reset it for another 7500 miles.

I'm not trying to be condescending in any way -- but this is what the owner's manual is for. It's fully explained in there.

Well that's a load off my mind. Hey Wayne. I'm thinking about bringing it in to Park Ave for the oil change. Do I have to make an appointment or just show up? What are your service hours?

Most people don't actually read it.
