Want to know how to paint my calipers
What do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea? I've always loved the look of red calipers on chrome/alloy wheels. Is this a complex process? Thanks in advance.

This is one of the things on the back burner for me. Was looking into the $40 kits at www.eastwoodco.com. Anyone use this ?

Just make sure you use high temp paint. Engine block paint works well, and i think they even make brake caliper paint. dont put on too many coats because this may interfere with cooling. A freind of mine painted his camaro calipers red 3 years ago and they still look good, but he has to clean them off every few months because dust does build up on them.

I just cleaned them off, scrubbed with a wire brush and painted them with some $5.99 brake caliper paint from Napa...
Wasn't a big deal except high heat tolerant paint can be runny, so you have to really do light coats and do a lot of them...

fsttyms1 those are Rotora Stock slotted plated rotors (says so in my sig).
Big Rubber, that's a porshe so I wouldn't care if the rotors are painted hottt pink it's a sports car. But if you want my real opinion, if you're getting a BIG BRAKE kit then no one will make fun of the painted caliper (they have no right ) no matter what color it is.
My suggestion with painting stock calipers: if you have something that can match something else on your car with the calipers like the paint then fine (Firepepper Red with red, SSM with silver, or blue with blue), or if you want to match your painted engine bay and other car parts that you have painted a certain color.
You shouldn't spend more than $5 on gloss high-heat paint. 1 coat should be fine or else you'll drip.

I did mine in blue and get a lot of nice comments. Bought a quality kit from a guy on eBay for $32. Left the calipers on the car, and if you're fast but careful, you can do it all with a small brush in about an hour and a half.

nym31? What did you use to sand the rotor. I am putting new drilled/ slotted rotors on my car Sat and ordered Red enamel. I also want a smother looking rotor! thanks.. Also to jack up each wheel and paint in only took an hour because the paint will start and harden right???

I think it's all in the presentation. Some cars are missing that "special something", and cry out for a little color behind the wheels. Other cars...well, they are beauties in their own right, and any extra pizzaz would detract from its intended appearance.
Case in point:
Now who wouldn't want to be seen in this "babe magnet"?
