Want the growl! which intake
:chainsaw: From reading this site, I want an intake.
Any benefits of one vs the other?
Mechanic friend of mine will install in his shop for $25, so ease of install isn't as much of a factor as if I were doing it myself.
I know LOTS of you have done this one, what do you think? I'm sure everyone feels theirs is the best!...but who wishes they would've picked a diff one?

just remove your intake resonator...no cost and gives you nearly the exact same sounds as a new intake...the only one that will give you more sound is a short ram intake.
here is the link to take off the resonator, its real easy and everyone who has done it loves the new sound when you hit VTEC.

no, the resonator is completely pointless. And actually just removing this will not come close to giving you the AEM growl. But if you also put in a K&N it'll help, but it still won't be close to a real aftermarket intake if that is what you are looking for.

you can also buy one of those generic CAI's off ebay for like $40 and then go buy a real K&N cone filter for it.
Also, look around for a used intake, I was able to pick one up off of v6performance.net for $50 and it was practically brand new.

dont ever get a $40 intake off Ebay...you are driving a nice car, dont get shit for it. Trust me - if you take off the intake resonator and add a K&N filter, you will love the sound and save $200+. just try it you have nothing to lose. you have to take the resonator off anyway to install a CAI.

I think I know my shit, i've been dabbling in cars my whole life bro, built cars from complete frame up etc
Quicksilver, if you want AEM or a good quality intake look for a used one, they pop up in the black market section of here, ACL and V6P all the time for great deals.

quicksilver, you can also use them off the v6 accord/ CL/TL-P you just have to cut off about 3-4" off the pipe. Something your buddies shop sholdn't have a problem doing at all.
Hope this helps

AEM for the non S cars
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634
here is an Injen that is type S specific
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...473648364&rd=1
AEM for type S
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...473678377&rd=1
and trust me if you want the deep loud growl go w/ the aftermarkets as opposed to the stock w/ just a K&N. While that does give a great growl and a sweet VTEC changeover sound, it's not nearly as loud as the aftermarkte companies.

I try
built this thing frame up
http://s87278733.onlinehome.us/main/sub/1.jpg
Just like helping fellow members, while the AEM's, etc may produce 1 or so HP over the generic tubes w/ K&N filters, is that really enough to justify you spending an extra $100? It may be for some, but not me. QUicksilver, honestly your best bet to try to do it cheap is to find one used

No resonator is king! the sound is insane in VTEC I cant see how anything could be louder or why you'd want it louder. It's free to try I think you'll love it. If you want it real loud get a K&N and remove the rubber tube on the bottom of your airbox(when you do you'll know what im talkin about)
Ive done the above things and this is what i think
