VTEC / respond question

Hi guys,
First, I did search but couldn't find right answer.

Anyway, I have 2000 TL and last weekends, I push pedal to RPM as heigh as possible.(gear was P as parking)
And over 5k(I'm not sure though), even I push pedal, rpm goes up and drop and up and drop,..(sound like 'bum,bum,bum,bum,..)
When I release, it become normal.

I don't have any error code nor CEL light.
Does anybody have an idea?

Thank you guys. =)

Yea, that's just the rev limiter. In Park, the ECU won't allow you to rev the engine beyond 5k. It's made to protect the engine.

You should be able to rev past 5k in Drive(D5), but just do it in the garage lol.
