It adjusts the timing of the enigne going into VTEC mode. Honda engineered our engines so that it produces the most bhp in VTEC mode. When does VTEC "kick in" in our TLs? Anyone? I think it's around 45K RPM... but if you want it to kick in earlier, like say at 30K RPM, you could adjust it. Of course, you'll have very bad fuel efficiency driving like that.

I know some of you are going to say VTEC doesn't "kick in"... that's not the right term and all that.. but I used that term for the ease of conversation. So please stop hating me.

yeah man.. when my VTEC KICKED in i was like, "dang, I didn't know this car had a turbo" The sound and the power that it produces during the KICKING VTEC period is tremendous.....hehehheh..

people here say that it depends on oil pressure but usually vtec engages around 3.7-3.8k rpm on the tl

I agree with you for a stock or near-stock TL. Could make real sense on a heavily modded TL however...we'll see when Snook comes through with the cam.

Yeah i also agree... If you want more power go get an intake and exhaust... But the VTEC controller for a car without mods is like getting an SAFC, it isn't doing much but sucking money out of your pocket...Plus you would be sucking up more gas which equals more money...

I might actullay think about getin one of those for my cl-s. i would love top ehar that vtec growl at an earlier time then 5500 rpm whcih it does in my car. U can ask ron on how much it would cost, he has a pic of it mounted into the roof piece where the sunglass holder is. Its a nice fit if i might say, Ron is a genius with that sh@t. How much Ron?
