Question Viper Alarm

I'm looking into an aftermarket alarm and there is a shop local to me that can install the Viper 550 ESP for $500 flat!

The package includes the following:
- 2 4-button transmitters
- 4 channel receiver
- PC/bitwriter programmable (not big deal for me)
- remote starter
- power door locks
- power trunk
- parking light flash
- 5 zone identification
- ghost switch (hides valet override in plain sight) dummy switch i guess
- owner recognition (vehicle recognizes me and configures itself accordingly) no clue what that means
- rapid resume logic
- Status LED

They use the Stinger DoubleGuard Shock Sensor

In addition if he will install shock sensors for my headlights for free. All I have to do is supply the sensors!!

Any and all feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Sup,

I too looked into getting a Viper 550. I ended up going with Clifford. But while I was shopping, I was quoted $350 for the Viper. I forget all the options that came with it, but the ones you listed sounds right. Just make sure the people do a good job in installing it. I don't mind paying a little more for quality work.

IMO, i don't like the quality of Viper alarms. I went with the Clifford 7000 with additional shock sensors for the headlights, but no remote start. The price was a little steep, but totally worth it for peace of mind. The Clifford also has a few options that Viper did not have including BlackJax. But in the end, I guess it also depends on who installs the alarm.
Rmarin, I went to Doren Car Stereo on Jamaica Ave (few blocks west of Springfield Blvd. They provide clean installations. I have a Clifford on my 96' Civic and have never had problems with it.
If you need to know more of the options on the Clifford 7000, let me know.

I would like some more info on the Clifford alarm if you don't mind. Feel free to email me at rmarinls@nyc.rr.com

I checked cliffords website and dont see a 7000 model. Let me know how much it cost and what the benefits are over the viper. I'm having Ron over at Streeteffectz do the install for me next weekend!

Thanks

Thumbs down

Listen up rmarin....you dont want to put any of that crap in your car. I used to work at a car audio and security shop and let me tell you from experience, Viper sucks!! Your factory alarm is a much better theft deterant device..Dont ever put any DEI(the company that makes viper) products in such a nice car. It's an absolute waste of money. I might sound a little harsh, but thats only because i had viper and i wish i never bought that junk.

Hey rmarin,

I think FreDroRN means Intelliguard 7000. Check it out here:
