vibration when braking, possible solution

if your steering vibrates when you brake , this means your rotors are probably warped. If your car has less then 15K the dealer should replace it with know problems.

I had the same problem with my 03' TL-S.

Funny you should mention that - I was having that same problem and took it into the dealer to resurface the brakes and it works awesome now!

hmmm, i dont think i have experienced that... then again i try not to slam my brakes hard because i know how ****ty the stock braking distance is... last thing id need is to hit someone from behind cuz of these brakes

so is the shaking for you guys coming on hard braking or average braking?

and while im talking about horrible stock parts... the stock tires are horrible... sure for touring theyre smooth but when pushing this car around corners, they squeel like crazy and drop my confidence level hittin a turn hard

The vibration is from warped rotors. There is a TSB on this issue and it is totally covered under warranty. The dealer will give you new pads and either new rotors or, more likely, turn your rotors.

vibration in steering wheel

madskillz,

you are lucky to have your brakes and rotors replaced at 31K.

to all;

I don't think this problem occurs from only hard braking. I think this problem can occur from average braking also. Me personnally i think the factory brakes suck!!!

I live in New York City and i have to deal with alot of stop and go traffic. This could probably cause the rotors to become warped.

If you guys are having this problem with your with your car have the dealer replace them not repair it... Remember it is covered under a warranty.

Look at it like this if it wasn't covered under warranty the dealer would probably tell you some sh!!t like oh you should have this replaced not repaired. This is to get you to spend the DOE.

Don't Let these damm dealers get over on you!!!!

i got my rotors resurfaced at 10k, then again at 15k, and they replaced the pads as well.

the stock disc are just too small and thin to handle the weight and pressure of the TL. I am looking foward to upgrade for a "6 piston" abalone with bigger rotors up front.

I really don't know. For sure, I will have to put 17 or bigger rims to accomadate the capliers and disc. Brake and rim total maybe 3-4k.

The difference between ABS "shudder" and warped rotor "shudder" is that the shudder you feel with ABS engaging is mostly felt in the brake pedal. You feel a pulsing sensation, most likely. But with warped rotors, the steering wheel will shake. And no matter what speed or how hard you brake, it's likely to be caused by warped rotors.

Other possibilities include overtorqued wheel lug nuts, out of balance tires, and etc. But I'd say more than 50%, it's caused by rotors being warped.

Just like the transmission problems, Honda owners should voice a complaint so that Honda and Acura will put in bigger rotors in their newer models. Do other manufacturers face these problems, too? BMW? Mercedes? Lexus? Infinity?

The problem with the brake issues is that it's hard to find statistically whether Honda/Acura owners are harder on their brakes than other owners in general or whether the braking system is inadequate even for normal use. I'm guessing that it's a combination and as a result, it's hard to tell whether some of us are using inadequate brakes. The thing is, some of us need to have our brake pads replaced at every 10K miles to 50K miles for some. If, for example, only 10% of the people are needing to replace the pads at 10K miles, I'm sure Acura would deem that their brakes are good enough for their market.
