vibration... help

When going local speeds under 40mph, my 02 tl-s vibrates from side to side every time i'm on the gas. I got it checked out at the dealer and they say 3 of my wheels are bent, and wouldn't do any further tests until I got new wheels. Later on, my alignment shop noticed the same thing and didn't even bother to balance my 3 tires.
Now, there's a new problem. I can feel ticking, which occurs more frequently as I go faster. And after about 50mph, the ticking feeling seems to tick too fast and just becomes one constant thing. This also only happens when i'm on the gas. The car is fine when i'm not on the gas.
So... would getting new wheels possibly fix my problem? Does anyone know where else my problem may be?
Thanks for your help.

New Wheels First

Hey Jungsup81,

I would think that if your wheels are so bent that your tire guy can't balance them, this would be at the top of your list. I experienced a bit of ticking at one point that I believe was due to the hat of a warped rotor coming into contact with a dust shield in one the front hubs...but this only happened when I was cornering moderately (off ramps usually). This went away when I bent the base of the dust shield a bit with a screwdriver.

Rob.

many tire shops can straighten a bent wheel for $50 to $80, look into that. But if you have 3 bent ones, I would consider after-market wheels too.

You better do it soon before the problems compounds and starts affecting your suspension parts, then you would have much more to worry about than just a set of rims and tires...

Vibrating

It may be your cv joint or joints that are causing the ticking, if a boot tears and dirt gets in it will eat away the bearings and cause it to tick. They can also case mild to severe shaking and vibrating. Have the tire place or dealer check it out. Bent rims would definitely shake the car though.
