Excuse my ignorance, but my radar has a VG-2 warning system, but I'm not sure how it works. What is the difference between a VG-2 warning versus a normal radar warning? What would cause the VG-2 warning to go off instead of a radar warning? Thanks for the help.

VG-2 is a radar detector detector warning. Its only for those states (Virgina/Washing D.C.) where radar detectors would be illegal. Basically cops uses VG-2 to detect if you're using a Radar Detector, and then if he gets you and you're speeding, you get a speeding ticket and a ticket for having a radar detector. Cheaper radar detectors like Cobra etc. sometimes gives off VG-2 warning if there is a another radar detector near by. More expensive ones like Passport 8500 usually don't give false VG-2 warnings. Law enforcement agency in states where radar detectors are legal sometimes uses VG-2 on trucks, because semi are not allow to carry radar detectors at all.

Thanks. That explains it.
I do have the inexpensive Uniden, and that VG-2 warning goes off about once a week, but knock on wood, since I have been using a detector (1992), I have not gotten a speeding ticket.
Thanks again for the reply.
