Ventilation Air Filter

Ventilation Air Filter
Regretfully I have not changed out my ventilation air filter. Although I have not noticed a reduction in the performance of my fan, I would like to replace the filter. Does anyone know where it is located? Do you have to purchase the filter from Acura?
Thanks for your help! Bryan

It's located right behind the glove compartment. If you want to change them yourself, then you are in for some work. You have to remove quite a few things before you get to the filters (2 pieces). If you have a service manual, it's the best.
I did it on my Accord V6, but it should be similiar for TL. You have to remove:
- center lower console panel (to get to the screw that holds the passenger side lower console panel)
- passenger side lower console panel
- glove compartment
- several metal rails
The trick here is to be very patient and careful not to break any clips that hold the panels. The first time I did it, it took me almost one hour. The second time I did it for my friend, it took no more than 15 minutes.

For the TL, it's a lil different. Here's a quote i used to get this done on my TL. It works.
Mr TL wrote
"open the glove box. on the right side you will see a shock holding the golve box in place, remove the screw
see those tabs in each top corner of the box that prevent it from falling forward? remove those by putting pressure on the back side of them (this is a little hard the first time)
remove 2 screws at the bottom corners on the outside of the glove box (one in each corner)
the box should come out.
cut the tabs (i think theyre labeled) for the square shaped plastic. replace the filters. turn the black plastic cover sideways and lock it in, put it all back together .
i think i covered everthing"

Thanks for your help! The process seems simple enough; Ill get it done today. I am wondering now if the filter is really even needed. Thinking about running without it for a while.

Thunder,
You need two pieces of air filter element to replace the old ones. I changed before they were due, and the darned things were filthy. If you don't have em in, your car would be a heck dustier in the interior. It catches micro dust, etc.
