Variable Tinting... has anyone tried???
With everyone throwing around all of these questions/suggests about what level of tint to use and whether or not to tint the windshield, I figured this might be something to look at.
I know that I've been looking at getting some tinting done and this would be quite the feature to be able to black out the windows when you leave your car parked on a sunny day or make it clear when you're driving at night and in the rain. All this would easily be tied to a control knob or a computer to set the level of tint.
Here's a link to a company that makes this stuff... don't know about pricing or difficulty of install, but it's worth a thought:

That's awesome...if a cop stops you because you are driving around with your windows blacked out, and then as he's looking away you change the level of tint so that all the light is allowed to enter to the car. And when the officer comes to the car and looks completely puzzled since your windows are clear, and the film is gone, you can laugh histarically and drive away without a ticket.
hahahaha....I would love to fool a cop with that!!!
Damnit, I want!

There's a bar in Philly that uses the electrified crystals for their bathroom doors. It's kinda weird when you first walk up cause the door is clear glass. As soon as you close and lock the door, it turns milky white and you can't see through it.

I acutally looked into this for my car about a year ago, and it is very expensive and in most cases, the film they use needs to be between two pieces of glass (so, that means new windows). Also, the people I spoke to said that doing this with curved glass raises the price substancially. Hence, I dropped the idea and stuck with tint.
