using something other than the HU

hey guys, i was wondering what do people use to "plug or attach" to their stock stereo to play things w/ more space... i want an aftermarket headunit but my mom won't let me play around w/ the car, so i need something that just plugs and play (in a sense..). any ideas?? how do you guys use the ipod and other stuff???

you can buy a blitzsafe adapter and plug in an ipod if that's what you mean. it plugs directly into the back of our headunits and press cd twice and it becomes an auxiliary input. it's quite neat.

i've been searching around and i found what people call an icelink and blitzsafe.. i'm still kinda lost on how these work, basically i want to play mp3s. but i can't change my HU cause my parents won't let me. so i'll need something that could just be 'plugged' in. sound quality is a must too..
