Used Intakes

i was wondering when buying a used intake, can there be a big downside, such as it damaging my car, or not "working"? im fairly new to all of this and i was wondering if i should stay away from one and just buy a brand new one.. Thanks.

if its just an intake u should be fine for the most part.. unless there are holes in tube... personally i am not as comfortable putting used parts in my car.. but theres a plus side to it.. at least u know they work right?

Might have to buy a new filter. Try cleaning it first.

Intake is probably the BEST used upgrade, cuz for the most part, they don't "break". It's pretty easy to check for problems visually. It's a pipe and a filter!

Also, used filters tend to have some dirt embedded into them which helps them filter better. Of course, you would clean the filter first.

it should be fine to purchase a used intake. as long as its in good shape. as for the filter inspect it, if no tears or holes clean it with a cleaning kit (k&n brand) and reoil it and install it

The only parts that may rust is the bolt and rings. The pipe itself is made of aluminum, so there shouldn't be any rust at all.

don't mess with the with a AEM or an Injen. Just get the comptech icebox. It is a CAI that doens't look like one and there are some on the black market for round $200 used. You won't have to worry about rust at all...

But you 'd still have to worry about the foam filter. If you must have the Comptech icebox, plan on investing an additional $45 on a better K&N filter.

EDIT: A local Sacramento member is planing on parting out his TL-S. I believe he is selling his icebox for $160. PM him (dtpjigzer). I've already picked up a set of Comptech springs from him so he is reliable source.

Can't help you there since I have no clue on what you are talking about. I know you can't provide the link since you don't want anyone else bidding against you, but if you PM it to me, I promise I won't bid on it.

This probably means that the CAI wont fit unless you REMOVE the left foglight. There's been many issues with the AEM pipe being too long and rubbing against the left foglight housing. My Injen CAI is designed so that the tip of the filter sits on TOP of the housing, rather than behind.
