Okay...
If your car is a 99-early build 2002 then reach behind the plastic under the coin tray and pull towards you. It should snap out.
If your car is a later build 02 or an 03, it's underneath the dash in the driver's side footwell.

You won't break it.. just give it a tug and it will snap out. One thing I noticed is that after I snapped it out that first time, it's never as tight again - but it won't break. It'll be easier next time you have to snap it out, though.
Thanks!
I filled the gas tank yesterday and got interrupted by someone just as I was finishing. Forgot to put the gas cap on. Even forgot to close the door.
Since all this happened after dark, I didn't even notice until I went to get in the car to come home from work. Oddly enough, the Check Engine light didn't come on until I had driven 50 miles without the cap. I went back to the place I filled up and they had the cap! I used my Car Chip to reset the Check Engine light.

don't do what I did guys, when you pop off the cover for the connector. I didn't know the whole thing lifted out and I had some coins in it. As soon as I popped it off, like 10 coins dropped into the cavity.
