UR Crank Pulley finally installed

Well, after months of my UR pulley sitting in my closet I finally got around to having it installed professionaly for $115. I must say i am impressed, even as soon as I left the shop I felt a difference, much smoother through the RPM's. Second day I had to take a 2.5 hour road trip each way for work, and boy oh boy I had to pace myself by constantly looking at the speedometer so I would not get a speeding ticket (hit 85mph in no time). I definetly noticed the car to be more responsive, it reaches V-tec range so much faster and smoother. I know it's been said that it takes a few days for the ECU to re-learn that it has a lighter pulley, if that's the case I must say I am looking forward to it. This was probably one mod that will come in second place of course to the headers. UR crank pulley gets a and I would definetly suggest it

I felt the same way and it is true that after a few days or actually a solid week your car will pull a lot harder. UR pulleys rock!!!!!

don't put a cheap pulley like that on your car! the crank pulley is a very important part of your engine and you need to make sure if you go aftermarket you get the best, which by far is UR.

Yeah don't go cheap on a part like this it's an important part of the engine. I actually got the UR crank pulley used from a member on the boards months ago.

Only buy Unothodox Racing, and find your local speed shop, its hard to say who's the best person to install it.

OK now this is what I have heard about this subject. UNderdrive pulleys will lower the speeds of you alternator, air conditioner, powersteering, and whatever else is connected by the belts. It was told to me that it doesn't create much of a problem unless you are sitting at idle for an extended period of time. Which will drain your battery. I'm not trying to scare anybody away from buying this, hell I will probably buy it still, I'm just letting you guys know what I was told from a fairly relaible source. Any input?

I've also heard this but logically that doesn't make much sense to me. If you are putting a smaller crank pulley on there, that means that it would be spinning faster...in turn spinning everything on that belt faster. I'm not exactly sure how it all works. All I know is I installed them and I love them!

naw, the engine will produce lesss power... physics 101, if u have a lighter crank then at 900 rpm of w.e. the idle speed it is, it will have less intertial force and thus less torque to drive the alternaotr and stuff. plus, the radius is smaller which directly decreases the amount of torque the belt will churn out at idle... but again think logically, it may affect ur car if u idle 10 min every day and not rev the engine up to vtec; which would totally be the situation if u were NOT going out to buy the UR pulleys in the first place.

p.s. no one will go wrong UR pulleys.... if it does then it is the lack of spirited driving destroy your car

3rd day of driving and still loving them more and more. i do mostly highway driving for work so i am able to open it up a few times and i am loving it, i really need to invest in a radar detector. i have not cranked my system up to fill the thump of my 10" since i had the pulley installed because i am nervous until I install my capacitor (which UR suggest to use if you have a system). by the way i also had a new battery installed at the same time as the pulley (no, not an optima. an OEM interstate made brand).

why are you scared?? ive had a pulley and a 12inch sub which i love to give it the max juice time to time and my STOCK battery had never failed on me for a good 19,000 miles. I installed crank pulley at 58,000 miles and my subs around 65,000 miles. and ive had them both together til about 84,000 miles then i changed it to the optima yellowtop since it hit winter and i probably needed a new battery by then. but even then i had no problems starting the car and never failed me. dont worry to thump up your music while loving the car's extra kick from the pulleys.

Nothing to be scared of. The alt still produces the same power, it just isnt as much at idle. if your driving you will be fine

So I had something odd happen today and don't know if it's related to the pulley or not. After driving about an hour (highway) I stoped at McD's for some junk food went to start the car and it took 3 tries for it to turn over. Any ideas??? I was only in McD's for like 5 minutes.

When I was having my pulley installed my mechanic looked at my key ring and told me I had too many keys on it and the weight could affect starting the car due to the chip in the key. Maybe???

Are you serious..... I have never heard of anything like that. How in the world would the amount of keys on your key ring effect the start..... unless you try to stick another key in.

Unless of course your keys weigh about 5 pounds and it is effecting the angle that the key is inserted....... man this is hilarious

speaking of pulleys. I hear a squeaking sound when I am driving along at a sustained speed going 30-40mph at 1750rpms in 4th gear and then accelerate moderately and when I hit 2500rpm's or so I hear a sqeaking sound which immediately goes away when I reach 2900+rpm's. I also hear this sqeak when I am stopped and take a turn, left or right, and accelerate. it is not very loud at all and doesn't seem to have an effect on the cars drivability. I am thinking I need some belt dressing for the power steering belt, but wanted some opinions before I try to fix it tomorrow. BTW I had UR crank & alt pulleyts installed a month ago with 2 month old gates belts that were is very good shape.
