Upgrade to 5000k or 6000k?
I've been doing a lot of looking around at all the different HID bulbs and im stuck between the 5000k and the 6000k, I know id be losing a little bit of "brightness" from my stock 4300k but I'd like to have a little bit more blue without losing the performance what is everyones opinion? also i plan on upgrading my fogs to hid to match the headlights if that helps at all

5000k. The higher the kelvin is, the lower the output is. If you want more visible light output, I would stay in the ranger of 4300k-5000k. I have a DDM Tuning Apexcone HID kit in my civic which is "4500k" but seems to have a tint of blue sometime.

light output is more important then looks imo
i myself just ordered a pair of 5000k's off hidextra.com and awaiting them in the mail. they were $35 a pair. check that site out and they have a nice reputation as a vendor on our site.
my stock xenon lights (4300k) are dimming and when i compare them to other TL's in my area i suffer light output so i'm changing them as a result.
good luck searching and replacing

WTF is the fascination with BLUE headlights?
Oh and i have 6k and dis like them. They will be taken out in the upcoming months here and replaced with 4300 or 5k max.

for me its because of the projectors on most cars. they give off a distant blue effect but as you approach them they are white. i guess most people like that look andare trying to get that look but fail to realize is that with the reflector housing it will not happen like that and you will suffer in less output if you want blue (6000k or higher).
projectors are not blue, they are 4300k its just the projector itself moves up and down and around a lot and their is a slight blue appearance on the bulb iirc.
projectors are just cool, i like the 3rd gen TL's projectors btw
i just wish 2nd gen had them too, i mean the intergras had projectors why not the 2nd gen TL's acura!

+1 on what he said. I have 3000k Fogs, and 4300k headlights. I love the set up.

I recently ordered 5000k, so im gonna say go with 5k. Your buying lights to see not for looks so the better output is the one to go with. And plus 5k looks good alrdy so go with it.

5000k looks pretty blue it's not that big of a difference from 6000k imho. And if youre trying to look cooler on the road you'll look very blue with 5000k when youre driving amongst other cars with regular halogens.

blue lights do not look cool, they are only annoying IMO.. they have a more "blinding effect" in the rearview and side mirrors...
i've always loved the look of "hyper white" colored bulbs..

a buddy of mine has the 6k on his car so i went and looked at them the other night, i didnt really notice them being any less bright than the stock, i live in the city so im not to worried about losing a little bit of light, i just ordered the 6k and should have them on monday, i almost bought the 5k but figured there wouldnt be much of a difference in color, i know most of you dont like the blue look but i do, plus the 6k seems to have a more crisp line where the light ends on the street

im currently in this same boat. will the reflective lense of my 02 TLS enhance the blue effect? im sort of leaning to 6k but im not opposed to 5k at all. i wish there was a 5500k :P

Just Installed 5000k Kaixen from Vendor xlr8. and too be honest with you at first i thought there was a little too much blue but im adjusting to it. Def better visibility than the stock 4300k that were going out anyways. didnt even have to remove the bumper to get to them and they look freakin amazing now!!!
i heard somewhere that you have to wait about 100hrs to they are broken in though... is this true?

the type of headlight (conventional or projector) and shape of the reflective walls give you the cut-off.. not the temperature of the bulb

concur with Kris about folks trying to achieve the blue/purplish look that projectors give off from the anti glare components...the further away, it looks white...get up closer and the glare shield gives it that "cool" look to reduce glare...my next buy will be 5000K max..had the 6500K Philips Ultinon's back in the day, wayy to dim for me...but hands down, best light i had was buying new 4100-4300K Philips D2R bulbs..it is true, they dim over time..
Now, i can spot a HID kit setup for halogen cars a mile away, some serious glare coming from those civics, tahoe's and older escalades..dang

i just put in my 6000k lastnight and ive heard people talkin about a "break-in" time frame, after they break in will my lights be brighter and/or more colorful? they do look more blue than my stocks but not a huge difference

Traded in my
Like other have said..5000k max is what I'd go with. I have Philips 85126+ for my lowbeams (soon to be TSX projector headlights) and 5000k fog lights and the difference is pretty significant. The Philips have a slight yellow tone with the white light, but my fogs are white white with only a very very slight hint of blue. If I could go back, I'd get 5000k Philips for my low beams too cuz I like the 5000k color better but my headlights are bright as fawk with these bulbs so I can't complain. 6000k is too much color and not enough light.
