Thumbs up Unleashed the Dogs of Hell!

I hit 800 miles the other night and it was a cool, clear evening, so I decided to nail the Ess and see what the new engine and the headers could do.

I thought the car pulled well up to 4800 rpm, perhaps a bit stronger than my 2000 TL.
Then, the dogs of HELL were unleashed. The VTEC swung into action, and a deep snarl began to emerge from under the hood. As the rpm hit 5500, the Ess sprang ahead with stout authority, reminding me of a turbo, The car just pulled and pulled and at around 6700 I slammed the SS and continued to plaster the gofast pedal, and did not let off until I was well past 100 mph in third.

This car is seriously fast, and you can really feel the added power of the Comptech header at the higher rpm.

Without an top-speed limiter, I am convinced this car could surpass 150 easily.

I have some contacts at AutoThority in Virginia, and they do BMW and Honda mods, including CPU's.

I will ask them about removing the limiter, if there is one.

Anyone else interested?

Owning a TLS may be injurious to your driving record!!

Every TLS should come with that warning

Also to your health...everyone should drive safely, but I am interesting in getting more info on such a mod.

What did they charge you for the labor with installing the headers?

Count me in. If there is a limiter I want it gone. After all the grief I gave the BMW guys on this site I want to make sure I have max top speed available.

BTW I'm out by the pool in a lounge chair under an umbrella, the sun is shining and I'm surfing Acura-TL.com using my wireless network at 2 MB/S while my TL-S rests in the garage 40 feet away. Ain't life grand!

2mbit/sec? Must upgrade to 802.11b. Access points and wireless cards are getting pretty cheap. ;-)

If you have someome reprogramming the beast, how about having them look at the sport shift. I think a little reprogramming should give us control of the 1-2 and 2-1 shift. Maybe they could look into making the shifter a little more responsive as well.

I do not have a TLS but I do own a 2000 TL w/navi. I have reach 150 which should suggest there is no limiter on our cars.

Sorry, the wireless card and combo Router / Access Point runs at 11MBps, the cable modem is my surfing bottleneck. Wireless bits are getting very cheap. LinkSys makes a combo DSL/Cable Router / Wireless access point for $249 on Amazon. Maybe cheaper now...

Sorry if I sounded full of myself, I was caught up in the moment... On the negative side, it is hard to read my laptop screen outside with sunglasses on ;-)

The 2002 TL/TL-S are limited to 147mph. The older TLs are limited too, just not sure at what speed. Keep in mind that if your speedo says 150mph, it doesn't mean you're going 150. There is typically a 3% (or somewhere around there) error so it may say 150, but you're really doing 145mph. Still pretty damn fast
