I called a couple guys over at theracersgroup about it awhile back. Two things about it, one good, one bad. Good thing, like the mystery mod it gives gains over everything, by being a piggyback to the ECU and having a higher resolution (scope) of adjustments etc etc. It messes with just about everything you can mess with in terms of electronic control of your car, and is definitely something I'm considering at least...I have the guy's phone #, I can post it...but I think someone should talk to Tim and see if he would mind hooking us up.
Bad things...well. First, you need a dyno to tune the Unichip, unless you can jack it into your computer and know how to program it yourself (the guy I talked to on the phone said HIGHLY doubtful you can do that). So that means a trip to the dyno, one that can actually mess with it. Next, it needs to be adjusted for every BPU (any upgrade at ALL) you put on your car...to optimize it again. What that means, is that you want this to be your FINAL mod...as going to the dyno a few times gets very expensive. Third, it isn't for new cars. Do NOT put it on your car if it isn't broken in (that'd be me, for now at least)...because the engine will change as you develop groove patterns within it and whatnot, and the dyno will have to adjust it every 200 miles until the car's broken in (that's a lot of adjusting...but this thing is rocket-science precise). And finally...I talked with the Austin,TX Acura place (which I will say, sucks, so you may want to check with yours), but they said that, unlike when you do other mods and they only void the warranty with what the mod affects, if you do the Unichip, then it voids your WHOLE warranty (yeah, everything) because they SAY they don't know what it could do to your electronics...BS in a way, but of course if I was an electrical tech I could understand how hellish it would be to go debug an Acura with some weird electrical mod I knew nothing about in it. And I forget why, but I believe that when you remove it, then you have to go back to the dyno...so if you mod it, then remove it for the warranty repair (my motto) then you have to shell out for the dyno again...and I don't think it's anything close to a bolt on unless you're an electrical engineer (heh, I am )
Hope that clears things up...but I want to tell you guys, I AM getting this thing, just not now...if anyone needs my contact's phone number let me know.

they always say that warranty crap....unless they could even prove you had it...and even then prolly only electrical system only...except if they could show you did things like caused over REV or pre det. ...they cant do crap...take it off and say my car isnt working right...

KChen:
Cool, I can't wait to hear I'd love to see the results, and I'm sure most others on here would too.
patrick:
We're talking about performance gains similar to or beyond the mystery mod. That on top of fuel efficiency gains, etc etc etc. The dynos for the mod on an Accord, which is comparable to how it would be on a TL, show better torque and hp gains than the mystery mod.
typeR:
When you install the ECU upgrade it's permanent. By that I mean you splice wires and all that. Also, as I said in the post, I believe I remember something about if you remove it you have to re-dyno it. Now if you blew your engine it'd be worth removing and hiding the footprints to get your engine fixed...but if you had a dead light bulb it wouldn't be worth it. I could very well be wrong about its permanence...I'd contact TheRacersGroup...
