Underbody kit color

Underbody kit color
I just got the underbody kit put on my 2002 TL-S and the next day I took a good look at it, and the color looks off. My car is the Diamond White Pearl, but the body kit look a little "whiter" than the car. The difference is very slight and I'm not sure if I'm just imagining things, but maybe the body kit is the taffeta white and not the diamond white. Haven't asked the dealer yet, but just wanted to get some feedback first. Does anybody know if there is a big noticeable difference between the diamond and taffeta white that would be obvious, or is it normal for the color not to be a "perfect" match.
Any suggestions?

It is possible for the paint to be a slightly different color. The bumpers on my car look slightly different then the metal body. It's a good bet that the bumpers, underbody kit and car body were not painted from the same batch of paint. Plus, paint adheres/reacts a little differently to metal and plastic.
As far as Taffeta White, it is a non-pearlescent color. It should be pretty obvious, not quite so "shimmery." Also, the 2002 is not available in taffeta white and a pre-2002 front lip will not fit your car.

I just put the body kit on my DEP TLS which I purchased in April. The body kit seems maybe a tad off in color (slightly darker) but it may just be that it's a bit glossier (since it doesn't yet have the road miles) and therefore looks darker. But on my car, it's very hard to tell.
If yours is that different and you bought it from the dealership, I'd have them put on another one or have them re-paint it so it matches. If they sold it to you and put it on, they should be obligated to make you happy.

I've heard of many people having this problem. Is paint matching really that hard? I'm guessing it would be on some colors that are more special compare to the dull flat colors...ie metallic/pearl colors. My friend had a pearl white '00 Prelude that the body shop messed the color of his body kit on. But like Redline said...if you got it at the dealership...have them take care of it...its a unsatisfied job that they are liable for. If you got it painted else where...same thing...go to them and talk to them. Good luck.

My silver matches perfectly. One thing I thought of - I bought my car in April and had the kit put on at that time. Maybe by waiting a few months, you ended up with paint from different batches that don't quite match as well. Just a theory.

WDP Color Differences
The front and rear bumpers appear to be a different shade of WDP (ie, a yellowish tint that someone on this forum earlier referred to as "smoker's teeth" white) because it is!
When I called the Acura hotline about it David Hambre (Client Service rep) said, "Slight difference due to manufacturing process. Slight color variation, but in their final estimation the color is very close in matching and the difference is negligible in matching parts during the manufacturing process."
Maybe in very bright sun light their is a "slight color variation," but trust me, one can see the difference between the bumpers and the car's sheet metal. Now add the OEM Body Kit and the "slight color variation" really stands out.
Note: A letter is on its way to Richard Colliver, Exec VP Sales, Acura. I'll post his reply on this Forum.

This is going to sound patronizing, but I honestly don't mean it that way. Remember that the underbody kit will have different shadows, reflections, etc. than other parts of the car. Try looking at it from different angles and in different lighting conditions and see if it's really off.
