TypeS vs. Altima

Ah, tonight I had a 5 mile race with the new Altima. The race occured on RT 10 in East Hanover if anyone know the area. I was pulling right next to him and all of a sudden he just gas it. So I followed him and passed him on the next light. This cat and mouse chase finally ended on a red light. I was on the left lane and he was on the right lane, we both look at each other and I was prepare to cream his a$$. But God told me not to race with him tonight because a cop car pull right behind both of us. So we both was "driving Miss Daisy" home. Damn, it was a chance of a lifetime and this has to happen. Fvck!!!

How do you even manage to race in Northern Jersey?

That place is crawling with cops!

Its a biatch, cause when you're on 287, she begs to be pushed!

Hey I live around that area. Since you beat him and you said it was a 3.5, then that idiot probably didn't know how to drive a stick that well. Fvck it, a win is a win.
You better be careful on Rt.10 at night because those damn cops are everywhere at night and they are pricks. Lucky you guys caught him before he caught you guys.:p

BTW, hopefully he lives around our area so you can hunt him down next time.

I'm still not convinced the new Altima is quicker.

I'll wait until I try one on myself. It should be easier than that GS400 I'm still waiting to run.

Ruf, you should go to www.clublexus.com and open up an invitation to race for fun or $$$. I have been reading for a while now about you looking for a GS400.

Can our heavy ass (but otherwise awesome) cars beat the Altima? Altima's only 240, but it's 3.5 engine has got to be able to put down some torque. And it's what, a few hundred lb's leaner than TL-S's?

and GS-400's, how fast are those cars supposed to be? I don't think we'd have problems handling the GS-300's, but I was hoping we'd be head to head against the 400's as well.

Even with some heavy mods our cars will get creamed by a GS400. It's a V-8 for torque and more power. I raced my friend and he beat my ass bad. After my CAI install I gave him a good run, but still got whooopped from 75 mph on up... Our cars have some sorry 4th gears...

Oh, I definitely think I can whoop the altima's a$$. But we were doing 85mph in a 45mph zone. And that area is always infested with cops. And also, his is stock vs. me with a CAI and exhaust if that makes any difference.

Well I've whooped both base and 3.5 Altima and 2002 Maxima's butts recently, seems these guys wanna play.............

But these cars were new (no tags) I am not sure why the owners are red-lining them, we'll have to see in a couple of months after some of the new cars are no longer green.........

I have tried hanging out at the local dealer once and once at my brothers shop where he does paint and body work for lexus, but no GS400s.

Remember, the challenge 1sicklex put out there was that a stock GS400 would never loose to a TLS or even a modified TLS.

Anyway - my point was that I've seen dozens of GS300s, but only 4 GS400s since I took on that challenge. All owned by people that make me wonder why they bought a 400 over a 300. Maybe it was the "staus" of a 400 and nothing to do with the performance of it.

I'll check out the URL and see who's in my neck of the woods. Remember, totally stock, and with 16" wheels to boot.

Shucks Ruf, I wish either I was in TX or you were in DC For the sake of fun, I'd love to try my 540i against a TLS (considering the 540i runs neck to neck with GS4s).

BTW, are TLS any faster than CLS? I hear conflicting stories. Some say the TLS engine is a bit different, some say same. What's the real deal?

So do I, so do I.

Not that I would bet that a TLS will beat a GS4. I just want to see how fast they really are. According to some, they walk away. Of course that could be over stating it a bit and or someone's view of it.

Having raced on and off for over 20yrs I know what a close race is and what a butt kickin is. I don't believe the GS4s less than .5 sec advantage to 60MPH, according to the same tester, constitutes a close race. And depending on the perticular car and or driver it could be a really close one.

Considering your statement about the 540i running neck and neck, what year(s) 540i would that be. So I can be on the lookout for them too.
I say this because I have a friend with a manual 540i and I've been in it and I don't believe it will walk away from me. Not under 100MPH anyway. I'm not sure what year, but it is not a newer one. It's at least a 1999 or even 1998 model.

Anyway, as I said before. I'll post the results . . . good or bad. I just love to be an underdog. There's no glory in beating up on cars you know you should beat.

As I have stated before, I race my best buds CL-S all the time. I have race his car. I know the 3.2 engine pretty well. And 0-60 the GS4 is ahead 1/2-1 car length and believe it or not it stays pretty close that way until 110mph hits then it is officially over. He's raced my car too and he's beat me in MY CAR and me driving his. We always have fun. Honestly he would have bought a certified 1998 GS4 but the payments were like $200 bucks higher than a NEW Cl-s and he was like oh well.

No one can deny the Tl-s/CL-s are very fast cars.

RUF, Lexus sells around 400 GS 400/430's a month so it may be a while till u meet someone who wants to race.

I've beat a 540 6 speed from a stoplight before, I was slightly ahead and he totally missed a shift....

One of my funniest experiences was a dude in a 540 (took me a year to finally find a race with one) as far as I am concerned the cars are performance equals, we were racing for, maybe 7 miles and even thought people say "only 282 hp" it goes like 382hp.

Altima auto vs Tl-S auto close race, you should edge it out.
Altima 5speed vs TL-S very close call.

1SICKLEX -

That's the most reasonable post I've seen from you. And I mean that in a good way.

I can buy that a GS400 is 1/2 to 1 at 60 and stays close to 110-115MPH or so.

I believe that if I have a strong running TLS, not all are equal, and the way I drive I can make it even closer. No consider that you are an above average driver who knows how to push his car verses one who doesn't. Whammo! It is possible for me to tie or even win.

Remember, I'm not challenging the fact that the GS400 isn't faster. Just that in any given race it's a possibility. That's why we have drag races in the first place. Remember, I've been beaten by a slower car before because I screwed up. But the fact remained . . . I lost the race. That's my only point, and the objection that I took when you said "a GS400 would never lose".

Anyway, I sill want to see how my TLS and I can stack up against a GS400. Consider it a compliment because I only care to run against cars that are close or faster. It's no fun taking candy from babies.

Those new altimas can run. If you can drive like a pro and have a broken in altima, you can get a sub 6 second 0-60 run.

Ruf87, you got mods? Thanks for the compliments.

All things being equal, if you got a GREAT jump on a GS it could possibly end up with a win for the Tl-s.

Me, I race ANYBODY. Could be a Kia, Olsmobile, Porcshe, Ferrari, I DO NOT CARE. I want to be able to see what EVERY car is capable off. That way I can tell which magazines are most unbiased.

No mods, but I do plan on a few.

Sways -
RES -
Wheels and tires -
Sound system -

who knows after that.

As for racing other. I admitt that I do race slower cars from time to time. Mostly because they are jerking my chain. But sometimes they just happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Like when I spent some time looking for a GS400 and could find one and just needed to let out some frustration.

As for getting the jump on them. I better or it's all over but the crying. At least it should be.
