The Type S versus a 3000GT SL
Another one bites the dust.
My wife and I just bought a new home in Olive Branch and we had gotten a rental truck to move boxes from our old place to our new house. I dropped the wife off at the new place and went to her parent’s house to drop off the rental truck and pick up the Type S.
Felt great getting back into the Type S after a long evening of driving a huge a$$ Silverado 1500. Anyways, onto the kill.
I’m driving southbound on Riverdale, headed toward Stateline road. I’m coming up to the light at Holmes and ahead I can make out the taillights of a Mitsubishi 3000GT. As I get up to it I recognize it. It’s a white SL with a DTM exhaust on it. And some sort of a sticker above his exhaust.
Anyways im pacing him about a car and a half back and slowly pull up on him until im a car back. He must’ve seen the HIDs and snapped to attention, because the second I dropped the hammer so did he. His exhaust note changed tone from a low rumble to all out screaming. I kept it buried and passed him like he was standing still. I shut it down after I had pulled about 5-6 cars away from him. He never did a flyby, just fell back and stayed behind me. I was hoping he’d follow me into OB, and maybe we could mix it up from a light, but he turned left onto Stateline rd.
Chalk up another one for the Type S.
Cliff notes:
The Type S laid the smackdown on a 3000GT SL from a 45mph roll.

Good Job
Hey...I live in Oxford,MS actually. I am moving to Southhaven or Olive Branch in 4 months or so because of my new job. I have a white CL Type S. Just bought it in July. Good job on that 300gt. I raced one of those modified with my 96 vette once. Destroyed him!!

BTW: This pic was taken at the airport the week after I got the car I had to fly to Boston. Hated to leave it in long term but didn't have a choice...
