Where can i find Type S Tb/Cams? I live in houston, do i need to locate a junk yard? or does the dealership sell it, if so how much? Has anyone successfully done the type s tb and cam replacement on a tl-p?

Three Wheelin'
It has been done but the problem is (or so I've heard) that the ECU would need to be tuned to take advantage of the additional air flow. The bigger TB has not yet really been proven to be a power adder, although I wish it was. What us type-P guys need to do is to find a whole package that works: intake, TB, Type-S manifold with IMRC wired to activate at thr right time, we could call this a stage 1 Intake upgrade. Stage 2 would be all the above plus the Type-S cams. Ideas anyone? With headers and the UR crank pulley we would be making some nice HP numbers.

Well I have Type-S cams and TB. It's just a matter of getting around to installing them. I will do a before and after dyno of the TB probably by the end of the month of mid march.

well i have a vafc to adjust the a/f ration so thats not a problem. the problem is finding them. i also heard that since we have tcs instead of vsa we have to change something or do something to make it work? Dyno's would help alot in a decision, its alot of work.

Yea well I have had the cams for a good 3 months now and just never have gotten around for installation. I've gotten a couple quotes one was $800 which there's no way. The other was $400. You will probably see these on the black market sooner or later. Probably going to put a turbo together before summer.

-S cams will definetly do a difference in our cars (10-15whp...maybe 20) but i'm convinced most of the -s power comes from the higher compression....not timing
We could probably get some forged pistons and raise compression by a full point->pt+1/2 and get as much power if not more than a cam swap for ~ prob less than what the cam swap would end up costing.
OR do it the ghetto way, shave some metal of the block (head? idk)
btw* i dont like NOS, sux 'cause you're limited to WOT use. with refills and stuff, its cheaper to mod unless you have a huge shot. There's a guy in my area (friend of my friend) who has a 10lbs bottle with a 120shot on a stock 96 civic EX

I never said NOS was great...its only good for drag times, but why put Type S cams and TB on when it really wont do anything w/o extensive tuning and "hidden costs". Like I have said, our engine wasnt made to be a tuner, but it will respond well to most simple bolt ons like other engines.

i am reading what you're saying, but it goes step by step, one thing at a time until im satisfied. its pretty much like getting headers w/o exhaust, mine as well get the exhaust to reach the full potential of the exhaust system.

The issue is you need someone right there to tune it. You can't install them in your driveway and expect to be able to drive around looking for a tuner.

It's quite possible that you will make airflow worse since you'll have a narrow CAI with a bored TB back to a smaller intake manifold. Airflow is going to be fubar.
