Which type of oil for my TLS?

If you read the warranty booklet and if you read this board,
you will see that YOU ARE NOT supposed to do first oil change
until 7500 miles.
TypeTSLady, your sister is right. It will cost you a little more
up front for synthetic but it will pay you back because you can
go longer without changes. My whole package--Amsoil fillter,
crankcase cleaner and and oil was just under $50. A great investment to me! (The regualar oil change at my dealer was
about $40 for my Type S).

VSOP...your conjecture is flawed...because you are driving so much you should be using the correct and good oil.

This is the only car I've ever owned that had such a requirement.

Personally, I have changed my own oil ever since I bought my first car back in the mid 80's.
I have NEVER taken any of my cars to any dealer/jiffy lube/etc. for an oil change. I actually enjoy changing the oil; it also gives me a good opportunity to check my car for other potential problems (i.e. broken CV joint boot, etc.).

Well, I go to the dealer all the time for my two Acuras to change the oil. For the past three years I have yet to pay for an oil change on my last car, CL-S and now the TL-S.
I do pay $25 per change for my wifes 94 Legend (which has 162,000) using the dealers oil. Same with my CL and TL. I'm not going to change what I have been doing for 40 years with never a problem with an engine do to bad oil.
Oh, I change them ever 5,000 miles, both cars doing normal day-to-day driving.
