Turn Signal Mod?? blink only when turning

i did a search but couldnt find anything but i kno someone tried this before. i want the turn signal bulb to come "on" only when you use the blinker. i want it to be off when the parking lights are on. would shaving off one of the bulb "nipples" accomplish this or would it require some kind of rewiring??

i did this. its A LOT easier than i thought. all you have to do is cover one of the nipples and thats it. its a sepcific one though... just try covering one and if it doesnt work, try the other one. looks awesome at night with my 6000k low beam and fogs all you see is white/blue coming at you

you dont need pix...

I just figured it out, and it looks much better especially with my fogs.

Take out the bulb. On the cylinder of the bulb you will notice two so called pimples...one is located somewhat in the middle of the cylinder, the other located almost at the bottom of the cylinder.

Now, turn the bulb so you are looking at the BOTTOM 'Pimple'....now as you are looking at it, position the bult so you also see the TWO filaments (two bumps/niples), which is the bottom part of the bulb itself.

So, again, you found the bottom pimple, now positioned the bulb so you also see the bottom of the bulb, and you see two so called niples/bumps......You have to cover the RIGHT bump. (use electric black tape).

peace.

You can always just cover one or the other and try. It shouldn't hurt to cut the power to bulbs.

thass wat im tryin to say... JUST COVER ONE sensor/nipple/filament/bump and then put it in, turn on ur parking lights- see if they turn on, if they dont then thats the one then leave it! i cant telll you which one left or right nipple cuz the bulb is completely symmetricall youy cant tell what is "the left side of the bulb or the right side of the bulb" ... this mod took no more than 7 minutes for me to do both sides... and im as stupid as a rock

is there any legal issue with it not being on? or does that just have to do with (1) the color and (2) that it blinks when activated?

i dont believe so, but i could be wrong. there is the amber under the turn signal which turns on when you turn on the parking lights/headlgihts so it shouldnt be illegal.

of what what looks like? all you gotta do is tape off one of the filaments, if it doesnt work when you turn on the signal, take off the tape and try the other filament.

as promissed i took some pix.

the website Photostep that I use doesnt support remote-linking, so here is the main link
http://teknoking.photostep.com/14078481 , click on the Turning Signal Mod album.

I'm thinking of making a complete website with all my pics along with all the DIYs available for TL.
hopefully i will start on the project soon.

thank you.

I fitted it behind the grille, i used very thin silver wire to tie it to the grille, you cant really see the wire because i did it on the edges so unless you bend down there and look closely you will not see it...however you may also use 3M tape (which I will do later)....

I painted the grille black now, and I think I will go back to the original look.

oh yeah, if you are asking about the mesh on the so called 'foglight' spaces, it you cut the mesh right, with some sharp edges on the mesh, it will easily just stick inside of it because there is an indent in the 'folight space' that will hold the mesh pretty well.

I want to have then "brighter" filament come on when I turn on the parking lights. Any ideas on how to do that.

I have extreme piaa's (white) turn signal bulbs but want the brighter filament (turn signal filament) on and use as DRL when in traffic. The parking lights look almost dull during daytime and in bright sunlight.

Thx

Instead of pimples or filaments, shouldn't we call them "contacts" located on the bottom of the bulb?

CJITTY you are 100% right.

filaments are actually the the two wires inside the bulb that light up.

but I didnt want to confuse anyone

I think I am to picky sometimes. It's funny, I can actually picture the contacts and never once thought to try that. Great idea!!! I may do that this weekend.

So, is there a second smaller bulb under the turn signal bulb that stays lit even with the mod?
