Turn Navi on to "Map" automatically
I am a proud new owner of a TL Type S with Navi, picked up on July 4th. This site is great as it has been able to answer most of the questions that I have pondered about the car, but I can't seem to find an answer to the following.
While I am not always utilizing the trip planning part of the Navi, I do appreciate the map screen showing the vehicle location, street name and other nearby features...the standard "map" screen.
When starting the car, the Navi defaults to the disclaimer, which changes to the "starfield" clock without any input. It is a cool clock, but I didn't drop the extra 2k for a clock. In order to get to the screen of my choice, the mapping, you have to touch the "OK" on the disclaimer screen followed by pressing the "Map" button.
Does anyone know of a way to get the Navi to start with the map screen automatically upon starting the car...kind of like how the stereo picks up from the place on the CD I was at when I turned off the car?? I realize this may be coded into the software on the DVD, but I thought I'd ask the braintrust
Thanks in advance for any ideas!!
Kevin

No, there is no known way to bypass the disclaimer. Acura is just covering their rear ends there. Alpine's OEM Navi's have the same "feature" as well. And no, there is no way to get straight to the map when you press OK, even though the Alpine Navi's jump straight to the map view. I think this is to "idiot-proof" the Navi so people won't be confused with a complicated map suddenly appearing.
The one thing I would really like is for the Navi to default to the split screen mode (directions on the left, map on the right), instead of the full-screen directions. On the Alpine Navi this is a configuration item, but the Acura Navi defaults to the "duh" full screen directions mode, again I think it's to appear more "friendly" to novice users.

Yes this question has been asked many times over the last year.
I don't think there is away around it . Once you get use to the Nav you will not notice it so much. I have used my Nav screen for the last 18 months that I have had the car. Everytime I get into the car I turn the map screen on & even when I am going on a trip that I know the way I have it on. I will turn the voice to off & use the map sceen for position of car & miles/time to destination.
