HID for TLS Fogs

For the life of me I can't understand why the TLS comes with incandescent fogs instead of a matching HID. Is there any way to get the color temperature closer to the headlights?

To save costs. HID fogs would drive the price of the TL-S even higher.

Not sure if you can fit HID bulbs in the factory lamps...

I think Sylvania (makers of our Xenons) is making a HID kit especially for the fogs. You can't just stick a HID bulb into a normal socket. For HID you need a ballast and other stuff to make it work. The kit looks awesome but is pricey. Plus its color temperature is even higher so it won't truly match our lowbeams. I think you're better off putting PIAA 9006 "Super-White" Halogens in...lot cheaper too.

I'd settle for "superwhite" halogens. Are the PIAA 9006's drop-in replacements for the fog bulbs?

I have had bad experinces with PIAA lights. I went through three placement bulbs within a year. Strangily they all blow out a few weeks after i am allow to return it. Dunno maybe just my dumb luck.

I used work in a camera store a long time ago. Anyway, we sold halogen projector bulbs, and the funny thing about those bulbs is you had to be very careful not to touch them with your fingers.

The oil from your fingers gets on the bulb and causes it to heat unevenly, which causes it to burn out quicker. Maybe the problem people are having with their halogen fogs is the same thing?

Yes the 9006s are drop in replacements. And yes you have to be very careful when putting them in not to touch them with your fingers.

Great! I think I'll be ordering a pair soon. What's the easiest way to access the fog bulbs? Reach under the bumper?
