TSB question on 2003 TLS

At 7200miles I had my rotors resurfaced and pads changed because my steering wheels was shaky when braking. They said this was a good will gesture with no charge. At 2100 miles it is doing the same thing again. My question is this, if I take it back to the dealer to have them fix the problem will I be charged? Or am I still under the TSB(goodwill gesture?)

What they did the first time by turnign the rotors and putting on new pads was a temporary fix at best. The thinner the rotors are the less heat disipation they have. The new pads were put on the car just so they can seat more uniformly to the rotors' new service.

From this point on they probably won't do anything but put on new rotors and pads and then charge you for it. Your best bet is to get some aftermarket parts that mate well (hardness of the rotor to the type of pad). I had slotted and drilled rotors once before and although they did stop the car better, it wasn't posible around here to get them turned when the time came. In the trash they went. You can still get quality rotors for a good price with out going with drilled and/or slottled ones.

I had the same thing happen to me around the same mileage as yours. They replaced my under warranty because they found that the defective rotors? Maybe this is the same situation? if not spend a little dough for aftermarket rotors and pads....

I've been reading and reading about the TL brake issue. I'm a heavy braker. I've got 16000 miles on my TL and no shaking when I brake. Is it just a matter of time before I have a (premature) problem, or is this only affecting certain cars?

Sorry buddy, it is just a matter of time. I'm not a heavy braker, I'm really not that hard on my brakes at all. It seems like everyone is having issues with their rotors at some point.
