Trunk Rattle Solution-lower Trunk Latch?

Hey I have searched for solutions to my trunk rattling problem. And im considering lowering my trunk latch making the trunk shut tighter, so that it doesnt rattle as much....but before I do it I wanted to see if anybody has done this and what the outcome was. And any problems that you may have had in the process and if somebody could post instructions and maybe some pics. thanks

Try this... take some cloth, fold it up 3 or 4 times over (not too thick or the trunk wont shut) and lay it over the latch hook ( the bottom piece). The folded up cloth should be about 4in. by 4in. Shut the trunk and make sure the cloth stays laid over the bottom piece. The tight fit keeps the latch from making any noise at all.

i lowered my trunk latch and it eliminated all my rattling problems. just remove the plastic piece held on by i think 4 screws. this will reveal the entire latch. then loosen the two bolts holding the latch, which will enable you to slide the latch up and down. In your case, you want to slide it further down. tighten everything up and replace the plastic cover piece. viola! you're done.

of course if you're bumping your music at insane levels, you're still going to have a little rattle even with the latch lowered. in that case, you might want to think about dynamatting the trunk....but if that's the case, other things such as license plate and fenders would be rattling as well

I lowered my trunk latch a while back and it got rid of most of the rattles. The TL's trunk just rattles real bad for some reason so if you're running a big enough system I would just Dynamat it.

I just adjusted the rubber stoppers further down to make it shut tighter and it worked for me.

i deadskined my whole trunk, well most of it, and it still rattle at the drivers rear quarter panel. so i just started to rip my whole trunk carpet out. found the rattle. two rubber pieces behind the plastic case looking thing on the left side. i guess its used for letting air in and out and keeping water out. i took it out and no more rattle and no water in the trunk yet.
