Trunk Mounted CD Changer Question

I just picked up a mint 2001 TL 3.2 and would like to install a 6 CD changer in the trunk. Simple question: Where exactly does it get mounted, and is the pigtail already there? Also, I found several changers on ebay for the 2001 but are made by Alpine. Will the Alpine unit work with the factory Bose stereo? Thanks in advance from a new poster.

No it doesn't come with any wiring. You need to make sure you order the right one for your car. It should have an 8 pin round on one end to connect to the changer and a molex on the other to connect to the head unit.

I went and bought a navigation unit bracket and mounted the changer in there with some velcro. It holds it up in the air and out of the way.

Part #3 39541-S0K-A00 should run less than $30 at the dealer.

It typically mounts in the pocket on the left side of the trunk in the wheel well.

The one I have is the Alpine CHA-S634 and you'll need the AI-NET cable.

Welcome to Acurazine!

If you just want a 6 disc changer, why not just buy the 2002-2003 TL head unit which has a 6-disc changer built in? I installed one in my 1999 TL.

Another option is to just install something like a Blitzsafe adapter for an iPod or other MP3 player. Many TL owners have found that they hardly use CDs once they hook up an iPod.

Thanks everyone for the help. Come to think of it, the "iPod" route may make the most sense, and be the easiest solution. Plus, I won't have to deal with running a cable from the dash to the trunk.
