trunk keyhole
im putting alot of money into subs in my trunk, and i read about how a safe thing to do is disable the switch inside the car, so you have to use a key to get in the trunk. but, are cars do not have a key port. Is there any way i can do something that would help lock it down? sorry if its vague

use the `valet trunk lock disable switch` in the glovebox, then lock the glovebox
That overrides the release lever on the driver door
Next lock the pass-thru door in the rear seat into the trunk
You are done
Set alarm everytime you leave the car
Add the new equipment- by serial number- to your car insurance policy, so if it disappears it is listed as property. Otherwise there is no proof of actual loss--take pics to be safe
Prevention is the best you can do
Acura removed the trunk key lock so it wasnt easily popped open by the casual thief, they will move on to the next car with a regular lock and BAM that thing is open

yea that, or like have the trunk open a few inches, but have it wont open any more becuase its padlocked closed. ie reach in those few inches of space and unlock it. but it might rattle and make noise with my subs going :/

agreed. dont worry about tryin to lock the trunk down its not going to help any. if someone wants whatever you have bad enough they'll get it it, trust me. my first car had about 4 k just sittin in the trunk and i had like 6 huge grade 8 bolts that ran through the bottom of the box and amp rack down to the actual frame of the car, and the nut was on the underside of the car. still got the shit jacked they went to town man absolutely nothing left in the trunk.

well i know if they really want to theyll get it, but im hoping to make it hastle enough that theres more of a chance theyll give up. if its break window pop trunk, versus break window pop trunk, doesent work, saw through steel chain, id think they might give up sawing through a thick ass steel chain (nto saying they wont tho)

Your being way to anal. Get an alarm, turn off the trunk button in the glove box and keep it locked. You could also disable the electrical connection that goes to teh lock so that only the emergency trunk release cable in the trunk opens it. I would rather they stole my stuff than to destroy the car trying.

Where do you even live that you so worried about being robbed? Get a aftermarket alarm like I said eariler, put the motion sensor to the softest touch, and even put that setting where if someone walks by your car within 1 foot or so, the alarm will sound off a warning.. DONT always park away from the crowd in specific parking lots because it will bring more attention to your car, don't be a showoff in school, don't tell anyone what you got expect who you trust, and just relax about it.. Good luck..

HA trust NO ONE,
they will casually tell someone who overhears and tells someone else....
ALARM- with paging- 2way- and replacement value insurance-
then its just Stuff- stuff can be easily replaced and repaired-repainted
Make a stealth cover in the trunk so no one can even see your stuff, yet gives you room for a bookbag-backpack -groceries etc without anyone ever seeing

Yeah I've seen what cars look like after thieves get to them for stereos. All types of cars, but a few weeks ago I came across I tl like ours that had over 5G's in damage because they ripped apart the rear of his car so badly. I agree with the people saying go for prevention and insurance if your stereo is really going to cost you that much. I put 2 grand into my old cars stereo and never had it insured so I consider myself lucky it wasn't stolen.

In my previous car like mentioned, I pad locked my trunk shut with only a few inches to spare to unlock if needed. I didn't have a problem with the lock/chains making any noise. Luckily I set up my system perfectly (in my eyes...err, ears) that I didn't need to go in there for four years until I swapped cars
One option you could consider would be disabling the trunk release switch inside your car but still have the ability to pop it via key fob.

get a good 2 way paging alarm and a .40 CAL...can't get much better than that...some states allow you to defend your home and your property (car)..just make sure you don't shoot em in the back, unless your in Texas..I think that's allowed there in these situations
