Transmittion Mount and Ball Joint Gone, bad or ugly?
Still Kinda new to this forum and just found out that my 'rear transmittion mount' and driver side ball joints are gone. Just wanted to know how important these parts are tot he performance of the car.
I'm currently experiencing alot of wobbling at high speeds since I had the car so I believe that might be solved with new ball joints.
If anyone has any idea what these two parts doesn't and how it'll affect my car would really be appreciated.
THX

The steering depends on the ball joints in order to turn and will result in other problems if left in disrepair.
The transmission mount holds the transmission in one solid place.
Of course it too is a mandatory replacement.
Failure to replace will result in other mounts failing and more $$$

I dont know how much clearer than THE STEERING DEPENDS ON THE BALL JOINTS
I could have been other than to say
If you have bad ball joints, walk, tow, push, do not drive, to the nearest reputable place and have them REPLACED
A bad trans mount will put strain on the ever popular to replace- front and side motor mounts!
GOT IT NOW????????!!!!

In human terms- think of the tires as your shoes,
the BALL JOINTS as your ankles
the shocks are your knees and so on
If you have bad ankles everything above it wobbles!
Continue this upward and you should find the BRAIN behind the steering wheel

I've had my car checked out twice and they always say nothing is wrong. I'm pretty sure that my ball joints are bad. I get a popping noise sometimes when I'm backing out of the drive way or entering one. And the steering seems to wander all over the place especially with bumpy or grooved roads.

Jack the car up and put jack stands under the frame rails
Now climb under and grab each place where there is a rubber boot and shake, pull, twist etc to see if something is bad.
A bent rim or bad tire belt cn cause shaking- swap side to side or front to rear and test
Popping noises can be driveshaft/axle related or bad sway bar end links.
What does a professional mechanic have to say and did you do what they suggested?

The funny thing is that ever since I bought the car I've noticed these problems and a few other. I bought the car back on Dec 12/06 and I did really know if these problems ere normal or what, and I brought it back to the fuck'n stupid mechanics and they could even tell me what the hell exactly was wrong with my car. I'm sure they knew but as usual didn't want to fix it until I brought it to there attention.
are there any major pitfalls for driving around almost three months with these problems? I went to the Acura deal and bought two new ball joints and new rear transmittion mounts . i will get them installed this Friday for sure.
Like I said earlier, are there any other issues that I should be look'n out for bebecause i've been driven around for 3 months with these problems???

Just wanted to add a couple more things to see what you guys think.
1, when I had the check by a new mechanic, he showed me where the tranny mount was broken in two peaces.
2, everytime I put the car into reverse (espicially in the morning) the entire car will jerk violently and yet later on in the day I won't even notice anything when I put the car in reverse. This jerking effect happends the most when I put the car in reverse and press the gas immediatelt afterwards, but yet if I wait a second or two the jerking effect will be minimal or I won't notice at all.
SOMEONE WANT TO SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE SITUATION??

Yea
Install those trans mounts and wait until trans completely in gear before pushing gas
Your next thread will be something along- why is my trans slipping?
Glad you found a decent mechaninc to fix the probs, he will look everything over and tell you if other parts worn.

How will I know if my transmittion is going/slipping. I know the '99s had major transmittion issues with them. If it does go, hopefully it will be within the next 20 months cuz that's when my warranty expires.

fix both of those asap, but do the balljoint first- matter of your safety. I had a balljoint go bad on my on my lexus sc300, and the wheel basically came off of the car driving down the highway at 75 mph....
The 99s with 4 speed AT have less probs than the 00-03 5 speed
