Transmission Question

I have an '03 TL-S that I got in Feb. I am pretty sure that my car has the updates that have fixed the transmission problems that so many of you have had, but I do have a transmission related question.

Is it normal for the car to feel as if the torque-converter is locked up at idle? When I am stopped at a light, my car wants to accellerate, even at 800 RPM. Sometimes it even "lunges" to a small extent while I am stopped and in D5. If my foot isn't on the brake, it will more than just creep forward like a typical automatic. I have not experienced this in other cars, and my wife's MDX doesn't do it.

Is this typical for the TL-S?

Thanks for your input!

This is very typical for the CL/TL. My guess is that you have the A/C on. When the compressor kicks on it sends a surge through the car which can actually make it jump forward. Just make sure you have your foot on the brakes nice and hard when running with the compressor on

Yep, we've all experienced it and have had many conversations about it. It is normal although it feels abnormal. It lunges even though I CANNOT see any change in the tach????
