Transmission oil jet question

I got a letter from Acura regarding oil jet update. I have 2000TL and my transmission has been replaced twice. The second time I got very good one and it looks OK so far with ~20K miles on it. My question is whether that oil jet update may cause any side affects (i.e. loss of power, noise etc.) If there is anybody who has it already done, please give your impression. Is absolutely necessary to get that jet installed?

i have not had it done yet but i am willing to go out on a limb here. if acura/honda has issued a *voluntary recall* then i would say YES it's necessary to have it installed.

i am willing to bet hard money they will not let you leave the dealership without it installed. i am also willing to bet they will not even let you sign a waiver. because in all reality, should something happen and it comes known you declined the fix, then you are not entitled to any legal recourse. should this tranny fail, they will most likely not honor the warantee if you don't have this upgrade done.

i'm sure it won't make enough noise for you to hear over the engine/radio/exhaust, that is if it makes any noise at all. solenoids are quiet enought. i would also imagine the shift should be a little firmer for the 2-3 or even the 1-2.

i wouldn't worry about it if i was you (or anyone else here). i am quite confident this will not make driving your TL a less pleasurable experience.

I got the tranny fix done right away. My '03 TL-S hasn't had any real problems (*knocks on wood*) with the tranny yet ... but I needed to bring the car in anyways, and I figure its a good fix to get.

After I got the fix, I didn't notice anything different about the car except for firmer shifts for 1->2 and 2->3 like Satin said. No extra noise or anything ... although I do have an icebox/headers/exhaust so if it did make a little tiny bit of noise I probably would never notice.

In any case, I'd recommend you get the fix once you receive the postcard in the mail.

Mine is scheduled for the oiler fix this Friday- I was told it will take ~ 1.5 hours, unless there is a problem with my 2nd gear, and if this is the case I guess they will replace the trans. I'm on my second trans, but it has ~ 30 K on it and works fine. I'll let you know if there are any problems related to the fix.

I havent had any problems so far 21k, dropped it off lat night and it will be done in 2 hours. I bet they cheaped out and only did the oil jet. I hope the gears arent half broken and they just use the jet and lie to me.

Mine is in the shop right now for the oil jet install. When they loaded my info this morning, they also saw an active recall for the timing belt tensioner? So they're fixing that under warranty, too.

they can't exclude you. they would be open for lawsuit if they did. but if you're worried you can always call the local dealership and ask or try to set up an early appointment. i haven't gotten my letter yet either, so don't worry too much.

If i go to the dealer and request for the oil jet, will they do it free of charge?

Tell them you would like to go in for the Tranny Recall. Log into the Acura Owner's site and you should see it.

oil kit

Got mine done yesterday. Nothing wrong supposedly so they just put in the kit. They said my rotors needed resurfacing and recommended changing pads as well. They wanted $180 for resurfacing and $280 for resurfacing and pads. I said no thanks and ordered my rotoras!!!!! They also jerked me for $3.60 for 4 screws that needed to put into my armrest. I didn't even notice the charge on the invoice ecause I also had the tires rotated for $20. The armrest should e covered under warranty. After all it's not wear and tear item. So always watch out for hidden charges. The one good thing is I got a TSX for a loaner and I have to say it rides and handles VERY NICE> THe seats are actually more supportive and more comfortale than myTLS seats.

I think the TSX seats are harder than the TLS seats. I liked how the window was closer to the steering wheel but over it doesnt have the power. I like how in SS mode u can hold 1st gear.

YOu can hold all the gears longer in the SS on the TSX. it also feels like it has more torque.
